  • Bono Dissed Bush, Apologizes

    Bono is famous for his generosity and charity work. But even U2's frontman isn't above acting like a "mean girl" every once in a while.

    In a recent BBC interview, Bono admitted to dissing President George W. Bush back in 2006 when Dubya tried to give his favorite rock star a hug. Bono, eager to avoid the embrace, moved behind a podium. A foiled Mr. Bush had to settle for a handshake.

    The moment went unnoticed for years. However, one person at the event did spot the "hug snub." When Bono sat back down, he sat next to then-Senator Obama, who whispered in Bono's ear: "Nice work with the hug dodge." Sheesh, nothing gets by this guy.

    During the interview with the BBC, Bono admitted to feeling bad about dissing the leader of the free world. President Bush, Bono argues, did a lot for the people of Africa. Perhaps Bono's admission is his way of publicly making amends for the snub (despite the fact that nobody except Obama even knew about it).

    In the aftermath of his interview, searches spiked on "bono disses bush" and "bush dissed by bono." Folks sought out clips of the encounter as well: Queries on "bush bono video" posted significant gains.

    CNN points out that this isn't the first time President Obama has found himself in the middle of a so-called snub. A video shot when Obama visited Russia appears to show Obama repeatedly extending his hand for handshakes, but being snubbed by the Russians over and over again. Once the sound was added, we saw that Mr. Obama was actually introducing the person walking behind him.

    The lesson: Sometimes snubs are easy to spot and sometimes they're not. If you have doubts, wait a few years, and then maybe Bono will explain what really happened. You can watch the diss below...

It's really convenient that the news media has found an excuse for everything we see that might put Pres Barry in a bad light. They never came close to trying to make Bush look good. Even now, this story coming out makes it look like the two "cool" kids in school had an inside joke behind the reject's back. The only reason Bush was a reject, the only reason anyone is a reject in the public eye is based on media stance. If they love you, you're a rock star. If they don't, you're Adolf Hitler.

Bono is garbage, no class not fit enough to meet dignitaries. Bono and Obama put together is still not enough to reach the level of George W. Bush! end of story.

Shame on Bono. Bush did something that no other Western leader had done to that point by ensuring a sizeable amount of aid went to the African continent. Something that Bono was actually begging other leaders to do. And then he snubs him???

Whatever your political leaning, this still translates to TACKY, TACKY, TACKY.

This just shows you what kind of a person Bono is. Someone with no class. This happened 3 years ago why bring it up now. Does he think it's funny or it makes him look cool. George Bush has more class in his pinky than Bono and Obama put together. Bono is a self important celeb.

Snubs are interesting..........it shows not class and it's one of those things that come back to bite you in the butt. Rudeness seems to prevail over good manners these days. G.W. Bush is a class act that the media has demonized. The media is a bunch of liberal jerks. The only station I can stand to watch is FOXNews.

I am glad to see there are others who see through their own eyes and not through media eyes. Any celebrity who considers himself above the leader of the free world is sadly mistaken. Obama... well he sounds like he hasn't yet graduated high school with that comment doesn't he! It is comments like that that keep me from respecting him...

I like Bono U2 and Obama. But this "Diss" was just not cool. Grow up Bono. If I was even asking for money for Africa or Mexico for that matter I would wash Mr Bush car for Christ Sake

Nice move Bono.... I was going to name my new dog after Paul Hewson nickname but after this im not even sure. Me and my dog have more class than this....

I always liked Bono. Always thought he did so much for the world hunger. However now after hearing this I'm sick of this B.S. towards a person who was "THE PRESIDENT" He is not even a U.S. citizen, so raelly who cares., but he and Obama are foo ls. Obama for making this a joke , while serving our country, and Bono for having the nerve to do it.
