  • Bruno Stunt Was Staged

On Sunday night, when Sacha Baron Cohen's alter-ego Bruno descended from the rafters and landed fanny-first on Eminem's head, most folks figured that the rapper's rage was the real deal. Suckers! Not only was Eminem in on the joke, he and Baron Cohen rehearsed it to make sure it would all go according to plan.

Suspicions over the legitimacy of "butt-gate" had been brewing for days, but it wasn't until a writer for the MTV Movie Awards confessed that we all knew for sure. On his blog, head writer Scott Aukerman wrote that the incident was staged. "They rehearsed it at dress (rehearsal) and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show." Wow. Let it never be said that Eminem isn't a team player.

According to the New York Daily News, Eminem wasn't Baron Cohen's first choice for the joke. That honor, which was tragically declined, went to Paris Hilton. Just imagine the buzz had that happened. Still, Eminem did a great job of selling the stunt considering he "may not have been briefed on just how naked Baron Cohen's flying 'Bruno' would be when he agreed."  What a pro.

Even before the writer's admission that the crash landing was planned, the searches had a suspicious slant. Throughout Monday, lookups on "was the eminem bruno stunt staged" and "eminem bruno joke" posted strong gains. Blogs, like this one from the Chicago Tribune, raised the possibility that the audience had just been played.

Now that the joke has been confirmed, queries are surging on "bruno eminem fake stunt." We'd say we feel used, but we're too busy laughing.

Yeah...no crap. Anyone could see that it was staged from the very beginning. It's great when the dumb media is wrong about something and everyone is reporting what a horrible thing sacha did to eminem. What a bunch of effing fruitcakes.

What's done is done, let's move on shall we. Complacency in this country is the norm, so let's spend our energies on why we have millions, that's right, millions of American children in poverty and many starving, as well! God Bless!

remember when MTV used MUSIC to attract viewers? What happened to those days? How embarrassing that this is what our society finds to be entertainment.

I commented this AM it was fake! Eminem had a mic on and Baron had makeup on his a**. It was funny because Eminem deserved an a** in his face not an award.

If Em wants more radical gay and Hollywood A-hole fans then he made the right move. If he thinks that this will lead to movie roles, he's kidding himself. I think that he should fire whoever suggested this to him.

Em is OK as a person just like say Jay Z is OK as a person. Rap music is sometimes an oxymoron but when done with humor is cool.

Cohen is OK. His brand of humor needs to be out there occasionally.

Too many people are constipated by their own pseudosophistication.

Ridiculous is sometimes a good thing.

Of course it was staged. The camera cut to Eminem before it even happened. Anyone who thought that was real is a blazing moron.

Watch it on YouTube. Before it happens, the camera cuts to Eminem in a perfect foreshadowing cut. Then you know, Eminem's may be crazy talented and the best rapper out there, but he's not much of an actor. You can see it in his face that it's staged.

too bad this isnt completely true.... the blog was soon after deleted. there is no REAL confirmation about this being staged or not until Eminem himself comments on the whole thing. so lets wait until we hear from him before we believe anything a deleted blog states.

well, Eminem knew about the stunt, he just didn't know that Bruno would of done it in a thong. that's why he got pissed. the stunt was faked, the rage could have been real. the world may never know.

What a Joke. Apparently the only people fooled were those at Yahoo! But then they were also fooled when Microsoft made an offer for Yahoo! for $30 per share. Hahaha! Oh and didn't anyone who was "fooled" notice that M&M was mic'd? Didn't they also notice the blocked camera's that were able to show him leaving the building? As for the "stunt" didn't Howard Stern do a similar stunt 12 years ago? Let's try for some new material folks, America is getting bored with you.

Let's see, the camera focused on Eminem even before Sacha landed on him, and he (Eminem) just happened to be sitting with his bodyguards. Who sits with their bodyguards at an awards show when these shows already have tight security? Even though none of us could say for sure (though everyone likes to claim they are prophetic) at the time that it was indeed staged, all of the evidence pointed to it being fake from the beginning. Nice to know they came clean...

who really gives a crap anyway....they both got what they wanted...marshall got to boost his bad boy image and cohen got to boost his new movie.....I dont beleive it was staged....this is just an attempt for both of them to save face...they both showed how classless they both are...the only thing that would have made that incident better would have been a highly trained army sniper with 2 bullets.

I don't buy this new story. It was planned by Cohen as a practical joke on Emminen, but it did't come out funny so now they're trying to clean it up.

However, I'll have to rewatch the footage and take a second look.
