Pardon me, would you like sugar with your protest?

As procrastinators hunker down to finish up their taxes, some American citizens—unhappy with the recent spate of federal and state taxes—want to revive a revolutionary spirit come April 15. Searches for “april 15 tea party” (+452%), “tea party protests” (+154%) and “tax day tea party” (+145%) have been fomenting on Yahoo!.

New taxes on tobacco products, the California tax on pet services, and other new levies have sparked outraged searches. Indeed, following the April 1 federal cigarette tax came a defiant Web rise in “tobacco seeds."

Leading the grassroots Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party efforts are groups with names like Conservatives on Twitter. Radio host Sean Hannity has also been touting the event.

So, would turning in taxes on time contribute to the national good or encourage big government? Either way, taxes—and protests against taxes—are inevitable. Below are the 10 regions who may be contemplating a nice, hot cup of dissent.

Top “Tax Day Tea Party” Regions on Yahoo!, past 7 days

    1. Atlanta
    2. Dallas-Fort Worth
    3. Houston
    4. Washington, DC
    5. Kansas City
    6. Seattle-Tacoma
    7. Jackson, Miss

Add Washington State to the protests. We are the 8th highest state for taxes and we are ready to revolt. Lets get started. Show our government we are not going to take it anymore.

Lets all remember that this Tea Party is only a begining. We still have a lot of work to do to get Washington's attention. We need to let our dead beat leadership know that we are sick of their "Change" and we want real "Change" that we all can believe in. I guess thats just me being an "arrogant American." I will not apologize for that.

Remember, it is not just about the taxes, but rather about the bigger issue of spending. The out of control spending that this government, the previous government and all local and state governments are and have been doing. Because of it, taxes will go up. We need our representatives to practice fiscal responsibility like the rest of us have been doing our entire lives.

Do all of these Teabag Protesters know that they are actually protesting taxes that were implemented by George Bush?

I find this story intresting in the fact that the "open media" which we has not even attempted to inform the people that this is going to happen. Californians pay more than their share and get grief in return. The Government needs to shrink not expand. They are not the answer.

but why didnt people do some research and vote for people running that would do thi ngs differently ......trust me....I would vote communist before voting for Osambama...but alot of people did no research in him before voting this over the top spending fool in.....further..many states voted the same senators and congress women/men back in....now everybody is upset, but when we had a chance to do something about ti and vote these people out......nothing is done....I am totally for the ideas that people are coming up with now to let the govt. know we are sick and tired of this overspending....I just wish people would educate themselves on election day...maybe if people had done so we could have had alot of new poeple in who may have helped us with these spending troubles

Great Idea. With more and more government taxes, laws, and regulations we only take one step closer to socialism. How many laws can pass before we can say we have technically lost our freedom completely? How about the "Let's do away with some laws and regulations Law"? Wonder how many votes I could get with that campaign.

I have to agree with Brandon....the spending has been going on for a good long time. The ones been in for 4 months can't be blamed for the mess our economy is in at present. Why did we send ones back that loved to attach all the pork barrel bills onto other bills? Look at some of the spending on those? Any yet, people will vote party even if that person has been there forever and done their share of sponsoring some of those pork barrel bills. Where's the beef?
Look in the mirror before voting next time.

Wasn't this action to be about income taxes?

The income taxes this year are Bush taxes. Unless you're making over a quarter million dollars a year, your "taxes" will begin to go down. From look of all the spelling errors and misinformation, I guess they've been successfully dumbed down.

Do working folks actually aspire to be as greedy at the top 5% and at the expense of 95% of the rest of the American population, their families and their friends? How sad.

The 'blame America first' leftists mock these protests with what appears to be the full support of the left wing media. Some will likely even try to disrupt the Tax Day Tea Party tomorrow, but history will be the judge that this movement will be remembered at the day "We The People" began the process of getting back the country we love! And YES, we do believe in American Exceptionalism and Socalism will be defeated!

Its a great start to let the government to stop spending and start doing their job. I heard cigerettes went up over a dollar a pack and it is all taxes. They call it the sin tax and although I don't smoke I think I didn't know that our govenment, althought the think their stuff doesn't stink, was god who is the only one that I know has the right ot define sin. Just another way to allow the government to spend money they don't have on programs that drag down our country. God by the way helps those that help themselves. We are tired of helping all these countries that want to kill us. If we cut out all the programs, inforced our current laws and took care of our own first we wouldn't have such high taxes.

Everybody be careful at the tea party. Get ready for Acorn wacko's and supposedly the government is calling us white wing extremists.

If anything happens, we need to impeach Obama by working every day to get this guy out of office .

No is the time to show Washington we are not happy with the performance of our government. Speak out and show them how we feel. We have a long road but remember 2010 we can change Washington with re-election of politicians.

I guess the conservative idea of a Grass roots protests is to parrot what ever Fox news tells them to think. Are any of these "Protestors" suggesting that the cop who patrolls there neighborhood be fired, or the Fire station in there Neighborhood be shut down? Untill thej they are just a bunch of selfish fools who beleive that the we can get things for free.

I voted for Ron Paul. I had to write him in.

He was for eliminating the IRS and moving to a "fair tax" or a usage-based tax.

So the question for those who have complaints is: Who did you vote for?
