Give Us Money. Blah Blah Blah.

As pseudo-professional writers with lazy streaks, we can't tell you how many times we've been tempted to fill our posts with copious amounts of "blah." As in: "Searches surged on Britney Spears following her latest blah blah blah blah." Good thing we never did.
Framingham State College recently sent out a letter to alumni seeking donations. The missive contained lots of literal "blahs." A sample of text: "With the recent economic downturn and loan crisis, it has become even more important for Framingham State College to receive your support. Blah, blah, blah, blah..."
The letter was clearly a joke and an attempt to appeal to 20-something hipsters, but many grads didn't see the humor. Salon.com writes that at least one grad believed the letter insulted the intelligence of alumni. According to an article from "The Boston Channel," the college has since apologized and noted that the letter was not approved by the college's communications department. Interestingly, the article further notes that Framingham has collected "about $2,000 from nearly 40 alumni who had never donated to the school before." Obviously, some folks not only laughed, they broke out the checkbooks, too.
It'll be interesting to see if other schools use this tactic to drum up funds in this time of economic blah blah blah blah.
