All in the Family

- No Votes
No politician runs for office alone. A candidate's spouse and kids often stump just as hard, and come under nearly as much scrutiny, as the family member whose name is on the ballot. This presidential race, one brood in particular has sparked intense interest in Search. Voters, step up and say "hi" to the family McCain.
The senator from Arizona emerged from last Tuesday's primaries with a wind of momentum at his back and a gust of interest in his home life. Forget "john mccain on the issues" or "john mccain bio," the day after 24 states voted at the polls, the fastest moving search on the Republican stalwart was "john mccain's wife."
Over the past week, the interest has continued to grow. Queries for "cindy mccain" have posted triple digit gains, "cindy mccain bio" has leapt, and investigative lookyloos have bumped "cindy mccain photo" up nearly 950%. Searchers have even dug deeper, surfacing queries for John McCain's first wife, Carol.
Daughters Bridget and Meghan McCain are also drawing a slew of search notice. Meghan, in particular, has stirred up buzz. Queries for her name and pictures have soared. We haven't seen any buzz yet for the McCain Blogette, Meghan's online "musings... on the political trail," but with the amount of attention lasering in on her father and family, that could be just a matter of time.
The other candidates' clans have certainly enjoyed (or suffered) searchers' attentions as well. Queries for "janet huckabee" rose over the past week. Talk of Obama's background boosted buzz for "barack obama mother" and "barack obama family." And brouhaha over Chelsea's role in her mother's campaign pushed "chelsea clinton" and "chelsea clinton photos" upwards. But power spouses Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama? Not a peep in Buzz this week.
In the race for voters' attention, where every scrap of personal detail is at play, it's the McCain family that's leading the pack.
