The Checks Aren't in the Mail
by Jill RobinsonFeb 7, 2008
Already planning how to spend your tax rebate check? Don't get too excited. News that the stimulus plan has become a political football in the U.S. Senate means you can put away that flat screen TV brochure and stop tapping your foot.
While Republicans and Democrats argue over whether to include help for the elderly and disabled in the economic aid package, searchers are busy looking for their money. Lookups on "2008 tax relief checks" shot up 1,364% this week. A whopping 75% of those searches come from folks aged 25-44. Who cares the most? Concerned citizens in Virginia, Georgia, Texas, and Florida.
Related queries focus heavily on the checks, with dialups on "tax rebate check 2008," "tax relief checks 2008," and "president bush refund checks 2008." The interest doesn't stop there, however. The searches continue for "2008 tax rebate plan," "$600 tax rebate," and "federal tax rebate."
Some believe that the Senate delay won't necessarily affect when the checks come out. Unfortunately, they're estimated to begin hitting the mail in May. So hang in for a few more months and hope things don't get worse.
