Buzz Greetings From Mike Huckabee
by Molly McCallDec 20, 2007
Ever since Mike Huckabee aired a television commercial featuring him in front of a Christmas tree, wearing a Christmas sweater, spouting "magnificent" Christmas greetings, he's been attacked as being too Christmasy—or crossing the line between religion and politics. At one point in the ad, the former Baptist minister mentions "the birth of Christ" and a bookshelf in the background looks a lot like a big white cross.
Yesterday, the Republican presidential contender defended the spot and saw buzz shoot skyward. Queries for "huckabee christmas ad" and "huckabee christmas card" surged. We don't know whether those searches are from angry voters, pleased voters, or fans of brightly colored holiday apparel, but they're certainly keeping Arkansas's ex-governor in the Search limelight.
The come-from-behind candidate has more to be grateful for this season. Buzz for "mike huckabee president" continues to rise. And his #1 supporter keeps kicking queries his way. Surpassing any interest in Yuletide greetings, searches for "mike huckabee chuck norris" spiked almost 80% yesterday.
