Knitting Picks Up Stitches

If you thought the knitting craze was soon to unravel, you might as well cast off now. Over the past two months, buzz for the crafty act has more than doubled, weaving "knitting" into our top 700 searches.
Scarf- and sock-warmed creators have boosted queries for "how to knit," "knitting patterns," and "knitting yarn." "Crochet," "yarn," "needlecrafts," and "sewing" have logged upticks. Even "patterns" has picked up stitches.
But the ball of buzz doesn't stop there. Guerrilla "knittas" are enfolding our cities. News stories have declared knitting "the new yoga" and knitters near-angelic. And Julia Roberts has signed on to portray guess-what in her next flick—a knitter. Non-knittas, the time has come to make nice with a pair of needles.
