What's a Pariah?
by Erik GuntherJan 30, 2007
Pariah, (noun): "one that is despised or rejected. See outcast."—Merriam-Webster
When Senator John Kerry said that the Bush administration's foreign policy is making the United States into "a sort of international pariah," quite a few searchers stumbled over "pariah." We saw a sharp increase in Buzz on "define pariah" as curious citizens of every political bent attempted to make sense of Kerry's verbiage.
Related searches on "pariah definition" and "kerry pariah" also popped up in the aftermath of Kerry's speech at Davos. Queries on the former presidential candidate are up 114% over the past week, in part due to his decision not to run for President in 2008. Kerry is definitely an outcast with the American electoral college, but his choice of strong words proved he can still stir up a little Buzz.
