Hey, Star Wars Kid, you can sheath that light saber. A new star has burst into the Buzz, and his rapidly proliferating searches may soon eclipse you. Allow us to introduce Qian Zhijun, aka "Xiao Pang" or "Little Fatty."
In 2003, this tubby teen attended a traffic seminar in Shanghai. At one point in the ceremony, a teacher snapped his photo and later posted it online. The resulting image, of a young man with pudgy cheeks and a sidelong, Mona Lisa-esque glance, inspired a fit of PhotoShopping frenzy in viewers. It was soon slapped onto the bodies of celebs and sent whizzing about the Web. A new phenom was born.
Little Fatty's face has now appeared in more movie posters than Jude Law. His world-weary visage has topped the bodies of Jake Gyllenhall, Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, and some dude sitting next to George W. Bush. He's been portrayed as a UFC fighter, an astronaut, and all of Italy's national soccer team. He's achieved legendary status across China, and yesterday buzz on "little fatty" cracked our top 130 movers. Related searches for "little fatty photos" and "little fatty chinese" have spiked.
Proving his rightful place as the Web's newest sensation, Qian Zhijun has let slip that he "hopes to use his fame to launch a career in the media." We would expect nothing less. Welcome to the big time, Little Fatty.
