Simpsons Still Strong in Search

"The Simpsons" has been on the air a long time—longer, in fact, than some of its fans have been alive. Now in its 18th season, the show still draws plenty of buzz, and some of the searches are surprisingly educational.
This past Sunday, "The Simpsons" aired its annual "Treehouse of Horror" episode. Searches on "simpsons" surged 96% into our top 500 queries following the spooky spectacular. Proving that not all Simpsons fans look like the Comic Book Guy, 37% of the searches came from kids under 17.
Getting back to Sunday's episode, fans know the Simpson Halloween special always features three stories. One of this year's tales revolved around a mystical being from Jewish folklore called a golem. In what has to be a Buzz first, intrigued fans pushed searches on "golem" and "what is a golem" upwards.
Some might say "The Simpsons" has lost a step. But when a show lasts 18 seasons and still inspires people to search for more information on religious icons—that's saying something.
