Fit to fly? Balance Board tapped to detect shifty characters at airports

Ohhhh! I get it! "Shifty" as in shady, and "shifty" as in shifting! Keep the puns coming, guys.

In any case, if they DO use this idea, they probably won't ACTUALLY use Wii Balance Boards. They'd be laughingstocks.

I can see it coming. Tens of millions will be spent on this, it will never detect even one actual threat and then the law siuts will start adding many million more to the total cost.
Airport security is an illusion to make people feel safe, employ thousands of people and not prevent even one terrorist (real) from accomplising their goals. I travel extensively and have found the screening done at airports to accomplish one thing, provide me entertainment sitting around and watching this rediculous procedure.

Great ~ so those who are afraid of flying and are very nervous about their flight, will then be subjected to additional questioning and more thorough searches.

So much for calming their fears.

My WII Fit asked me if I trip over air. So much for my ability to fly commercial.

So that means people like myself who,don't feel safe flying on a comercial airplane because the engine may fall off,or some other mechanical malfunction may occur,will be deamed a terrorist by the DHS because I don't trust the airplane,because the pilot may be a drunk,or the airplane may fall apart because they put used parts in the engine?

What about those who are nervous about flying?

This is just great. I am already scared to fly, if they add anything else which would cause even more anxiety I'm never going to fly again. How stupid could they possibly be, most people I know are at least a little nervous to fly in the first place.

I think its a dumb idea. i myself am always a nervious person with no intention on creating a hostle scene on an airplane. i just bounce around and shift my weight constatnly. it looks like this is the new age version of profiling. oh your a fidgety person sir come with me you might be trouble. get out of here. its stupid

Next the Airlines will use dance revolution as well as wi, to test hand eye cordination and if you cant rock it, well to bad, you get voted off the flight.

Ummm ok, here's the issue I see with this. What about those of us who don't have correct balance in the first place? I was in a car accident in 2004. My left leg suffered alot of damage and is still very often in pain. Most of my weight is on my right leg but I switch legs alot to try to prevent pain in my left knee from building. If I stand very long, I will be in severe pain for days. Am I going to be ambushed for being a terrorist every time I go through the airport?

i am far less trusting of anyone who isn't tense and uneasy in an airport security line!

Amazing how simple things made for our entertainment always turn out to be useful for bigger things like protecting our family and friends.

Stupidest thing I have ever heard.

Most people these days feel tension and unease in Airports. I know I do. I especially worry about missing my plane because of all the security of checking in and basically undressing and unpacking everything at security check points. I'm always a nervous wreck at airports. Flying is not the leisurely and actually fun activity it used to be. It does nothing but make everybody tense and uneasy!!!!! I'll probably always show up as a dangerous character.

Boston based? Wonderful. Seriously, it detects nervous passengers? Who isn't nervous when getting in a tin tube that shoots through the skies at near the speed of sound. Besides, after spending hundreds of dollars to buy a ticket to get on one of these things, you will now have to stand in a line of a mile long while the TSA is playing video games, possibly missing the flight. I ask again, who wouldn't be nervous?

Well, it won't work now.....you just told them they now need to stand still in line! Things like this will never work if they are prewarned that it may be used!! Never have understood that.

I guess they won't be happy until they turn off the public entirely to flying with such a ponderous array of tasks and scans that people just stop using air carriers. Then, the airlines can, perhaps, apply for some Obama money to bail them out when they fail. I, for one, will not be subjected to such stupidity at an air terminal. I must fly, I just won't go.

Great, I already hate airport security now they are going to make you go thru wii fit just to get on a damn plane, are they going to make you weigh in too, maybe play the penguin or candle game... Thanks Bin Laden

This has got to be the most stupid and ludicrous thought/idea, perspective, creation of all times....... there are many reasons to be nervous.

Next thing you know.... a stupid officer will arrest you just because the machine beeped......

I guess I will start my boat transportation business arround the world due this stupid people labeling and reducing our humanity.

thats why the airlines are all hurting for bussiness people are sick of the crap . i myself would only fly if it was imperitive.an awfull thing when i am screened because some moron thinks i look nervous or look at them funny . hope people get tough and stop flying when possible then they'll be begging for bussiness

What about the people who just have difficulty balancing? I know some people who have no balance whatsoever because of neurological problems.

the only thing it will detect is if you are drunk or have no balance at all. i am afraid of flying, get nervous when i go through security, even tho i have no reason to be, im thinking about turbulance, the engine falling off, birds hitting the engins, landing gear not working, ok ok, so ill never fly again i guess. and heartrate and breathing detectors? even if your not really scared of flying, im sure your heart rate goes up some thinking about it. should we all get the wii balance board and practice? i think between that and a valium, we should be ok.

Btw, I travelled often over the border between Canada and the United States for 8 years, before and after 9/11. Airport security got a little better for about 6 months after the planes hit. After that, its back to same old same old. Real airport security doesn't exist because no one is willing to spend the money on it that it needs. Its just yet another example of "lets not take care of the people, lets just maximize profit because money is god. Screw people. Let them die".

What about the nervous flyers or people who dont have perfect balance? This is the most stupid idea have ever heard

This is really stupid, there is better things to be doing.

What about the terrorist who are not uneasy... I also agree with what everyone else before me said.
