No one was suprised when Graham, 6 for 6 this season missed?? Why wouldn't everyone have expected him to make the field goal?
Graham isn't 6 for 6 this season, I remember him missing one from a shorter distance during the windstorm we had here in southern Ohio. As for being surprised.... As the announcers said, the missed FG pretty much sums up the bengals season, if anything can go wrong, it has.
This reporter is an incompetent idiot. A REAL reporter would have told us uninitiated what the rule was instead of rambling incoherently around the material.
Maybe he does not understand the rule or more likely has not the vaguest notion about the basics of reporting, i.e., when, where, who, why, what.
oops nevermind pitt runs interception back with no time left............pitt 17 sd 10 just a normal score
How about some basic reporting, please? An explanation of the rules would have been a nice touch.
The story is crap. Nothing like kicking people when they are down. The reporter sounds like a spiteful ^ssh0le, not a impartial informer. Discuss options for the NFL to eliminate the possiblitly of a tie, like to go NCAA type rules, or play until someone score. Get off the high horse and do you job.
wow for those of you who don't know the rule... In the NFl you only have one overtime period of 15 minutes and the first team to score wins. If no team scores the game is declared over in the regular season. However, during the playoffs the game is continued until there is a winner. It's hilarious how you people complain about not knowing the rule. Well shouldn't the game make the rule self-explanatory to you?
I've always been a hometown Eagles fan - but, it's pitiful that they can't even beat the Bengals in Overtime. Thank God for the Phillies! ;)
i still don't know what the rule is for tie games. The story says there is a time limit, but what is the time limit? That should be part of the basic story. That seems to confirm my belief that today's journalists know very little about Journalism.
Well I guess Bengals fans should be happy it isnt a loss lol. I enjoyed the pittsburgh san diego game alot better
kayak, the rule for tie games is the away team gets to choose heads or tails, and it's played like a regular 4th quarter game, with each team getting 2 timeouts and no challenges. If time expires in the 1st overtime quarter, its declared a tie if its the regular season. In the postseason there can't be tie games so they continue for unlimited quarters.
Reading the article I'm surprised Donovan McNabb didn't know the rule for tie games, considering football players are usually fans of the game as well.
The best part is that McNabb, STARTING QB for an NFL franchise, didn't even know that ties existed in the NFL! And Andy Reid doesn't even know how ties effect the standings? They deserve much worse than a tie.
ok..first off this whole ending in a tie is bullshit and the fans doesn't come to a game and spend a s*** load of money for a game to end in a tie. Well it's just like every sport has to ruin an fans spirit b/c if i recall back in baseball when the all-star game ended in a tie. thats what makes the game exciting. people get into the game and it was well worth their money. oh what did i say money. i beleive people these days are getting ripped off for what the pay for, for the people who run NFL, MLB, NBA; you have to realize you can't do this to people b/c u will lose more business, your also making rules so that the game isnt fun to the players; yes they're pro and yes they need to be role-models, but one thing your missing...you pay them to do their job...so let them do it in style!!!!
what kind of crap is this? I do not think that the eagles or bengals could win a game if their lives were on the line. Why don't the eagles no the nfl's rules?
Did any one catch the "15 minutes extra quarter" comment? There are only 4 quarters dude!!! The extra period is not a quarter. Besides the usless rambling about the tie, that "extra quarter" comment was really idiotic.
I can't belive McNabb is this stupid. no wonder he blew the Supebowl against the Patriots. as for the coaching staff, nobody said anything about a tie during overtime? for him to admit that he was unawre of this rule is an indictment against the coaching staff. Andy Reed should be fired this week.
