LeBron's dribble draws jeers

The Washington Wizards poke fun at what LeBron James calls his "crab dribble." » Full Story on Y! Featured

The NBA needs to have it's ref's catch up on the evolving of the moves some of these players use...bottom line last I checked you can't start counting steps in terms of a traveling call until the dribble has clearly been terminated....simply when the dribble is officially killed is when you start counting steps...not when the ball is still in the state of being dribbled.

i agree Justice...if you take a step while you are putting your last dribble down...that should not be counted as step one. Alot of Refs call that still when it is incorrect according to the rule book. Just because the person does not dribble again after that last dribble does not mean the dribble has been stopped yet. Caron & Antwan know what is they just being silly and kissing up to Mr Stern and his Dinosaur Refs!!!

Still no respect ,, they would not call that on Kobe or God forbid Garnet,,how many times did you see Jordan called for to many steps even though he always seemed to take at least 1 extra step ,,yeah very rare,, lack of respect cost the Cavs a win to sorry ass Washington and their big mouth over paid clowns,,, they talk more than they play......

king james you should have went to college first, cause they would have taught you the fundamentals of playing ball, and that was a travel!

Spooner must be the only person in the world not to be aware of the NBA memo about letting LeBron travel whenever he wants. Kudos to him for daring to call an obvious travel...and in crunch time too!

The Wizards should spend less time thinking about Lebrons dribble and more time working on their own game. Lebron may walk sometimes , every player does. Maybe if the Wizards did a crab dribble once in a while they would win more games. Im sure Lebron could care less what the Wizards say cuz he is the league MVP this year and he is more worried about the playoffs, something the wizards wont come anywhere near this year unless their in the stands. Cavs are going to the championship this year and the wizards will be at home studying their "crab dribble". HA HA , GO CAVS!!!

I've been telling my friends about this all year. Lebron travels on almost every single play. It reminds me of what we used to call Jordan rules. Every time the league starts promoting stars and not the league, it turns people away.

My son plays Freshman High School Ball. You do what Lebron did, you get called for steps. Some rules are different between High School and pro. Traveling isn't one. Not everything that works on the playground flies in the arena.

I think they need to be more strict on ALL traveling calls. When someone slams the ball, it isn't anything to see them take two or three steps without dribbling, so what's the difference??? Traveling is traveling. Call it all the time or don't call it at all.

And to Justice, the moves of the players need to conform to the rules of basketball, not vice-versa. The refs don't need to catch up to anything. What are we supposed to be evolving to? Two-and-a-half steps in 2009, two-and-three-quarters next year? Nope. Doesn't work that way.

The crab dribble?...a hesitation dribble and two steps? I can see that evolving to the snail dribble...two hesitation moves and three steps. Try that in the playoffs LeBron, and you will keep the Cavs O fer rings string intact.

It's funny that they believe James is going to be called for a travel. In one of last year's playoff games against the Celtics (no, I'm not a Celtic fan), Cleveland had the ball out of bound, one down with ca. 4 seconds left. Of course, James got the ball near mid court.

He "drove" to the basket, with the ball hitting on the 3 pt line on his last dribble. He went all the way to the basket, taking FIVE steps w/o dribbling, with every official watching him. Using my recorder, I reviewed the play many times to be sure.

Some justice prevailed and he missed the layup. It was mind boggling.

The worst part about it is the whining about being called for it. Crab dribble...please. Just because you do it and get away with it doesn't make it excusable. Here's a thought, don't travel.

How do you think the so called best player ever, Jordan, got the props that he did. That is when all this started. The palming, traveling, and everything else that gave him an advantage. The NBA wanted a superstar and they let him and others by with everything. This is just what has evolved from that.

i want to see somebody tuck the ball under his arm like a football, run the length of the court and jam it and see if somebody calls traveling

Im tired of watching the NBA trying to "re-invent" the game! The basic rule of traveling has been manipulated by the players gradually over the last 10 years and it's now out of control. The refs did not "nip it in the bud" years ago. Same goes for the NFL "pass interference" calls. Althletes are such crybabies and are way over paid. What dont they start to really earn their money and play "by the rules" They probably wont be as good as they seem then!!!!

Whats funny is that the Wizards barerly won this game and they should keep their mouths shut and thank god that Lebron so called "Crab Dribbled."
The two teams have a rivarly but it's pretty one sided with the Cavs winning almost every time!~! Every now and then the Wizards will win one if their lucky! Shape up or ship out! You may see the Wizards trade Jamison anyway to the Cavs!! Ha ha lol!!
