Jones could be through after losing to Calzaghe

Roy Jones Jr. was on the wrong end of a one-sided loss to Joe Calzaghe on Saturday night. » Full Story on Yahoo! Sports

With the exception of Bernard Hopkins and George Foreman it's the same thing with fighters that are well past their prime. It takes exceptional skill and conditioning to beat a younger AND skilled fighter, eight times out 10 youth prevails. Hats off to RJJ for having the heart to give it a go after three traumatic KOs that would have secured the retirement of most fighters.

Watched the Jones-Calzaghe fight. Jones was heartless, thats puting in mildly i would use stronger words. I can honestly say i hate the mans guts. how dare he allow that punk Calzaghe to slap him up.All he did all round was throw one punch. Never attempted to put together any combination's. Calzaghe just stood in front of him. I have over sixty amateur fights so i know what it feels like to be in the ring. But come on Roy, you just got punked. Jones better retire for good. He is a disgrace.

You have to give credit to Calzaghe he beat another OLD washed up champion, maybe for his next fight we could dig dig up Battling Levinsky and he could have a crack at him too. You dont become best by beating yesterdays best, you become best by beating today's. Example Dawson.

Joe Calzaghe is one amazing technical fighter. He made Roy Jones look stupid. His only weakness is he doesnt have the heavy hand. He punishes with persistence. I bet Jeff Lacy, Hopkins, and Jones would have rather been knocked out than to be battered and punished the way they were. No one out there could make that list look as silly and one sided as Joe did. Hopefully he wont retire because that was the best 50 bucks Ive ever spent on PPV. It seems alot of these legends go in to look pretty and collect a paycheck. They will have to earn it against Calzaghe. For those who talk of the age discrepency of Roy. Jeff Lacy is one hell of a young fighter and if you havent seen that it was brutal beating. In short Calzaghe is a bad ass MFSOB!!

i think calzaghe is a bum. he has good body movement and a high work rate, but with no punching power. put him in a fight with a young talented fighter like Chad Dawson who could last 12 rounds and it will show how much of a bum joe really is.

I grew up in Pensacola and watched Roy fight as a young man. He was a brilliant fighter and in my opinion was truly one of the best pound-for-pound boxers ever. I give him credit for trying again against a younger and now faster fighter. When boxing is all you have, you have to keep it going as long as possible. Roy had a brilliant career, hats off to him. I hope he can now hang up his gloves and move on to greener pastures.

Just like any other great athlete you have your day when you are young, but once you get older you will decline. Roy is one of the greatest fighters of all time, but he is older, and don't have the pep that he use to have as a younger man. You just have to know when to quit, because you cannot win against father time. It happens to the best of us.

Jones took a beating! His big mouth could not help him. The white boy slapped him around. Jones will have eye damage. Jones could not even loose gracefully, he still ran his section 8 mouth. Jones has no heart, he hid the entire fight.
