Obama Said to Push for Tax Cuts in Stimulus Plan (Bloomberg)

Bloomberg - Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package will include hundreds of billions of dollars worth of tax breaks for individuals and businesses, according to a transition official and Democratic aides. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

How does the government spend $140 billion dollars to give us a tax cut? The government should cut that money from the bloated budget. Remove the pork, remove the unnecessary payroll hogs, stop price gouging by companies with government contracts, ban lobbyists, disown big money political supporters. Stay out of my paycheck. Where is my right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Oh yeah, I'm a legal American citizen, the only right I have is to pay for the illegals.

Tax Cuts?

Very Republican like.

Obama campaigned hard left and then got elected, turned a sharp right and floored it.

Is Obama trying to please everyone?

Please the Supreme Court first.

We need a tax break ! I went over mine and my husband's taxes to get an idea what we may be getting back. HAHA !! Out of $1551.00, we'll be lucky if we see $43. back ! What is the Gov. doing with all this money, besides bailing out a bunch of CEO's? I guess $43. back is better than having to pay in.

Scarlett, I believe he's sweating because he's trying to figure out how to LOOK like he's helping the American people without actually helping the American people.

I dont see how this plan is going to help individuals Bush plan was a lot better since it put dollars in the pocket right away. For tax payers to spend as they choose which include paying debts. What happens to the tax payer who is not working and unable to find a job how will this plan help them ?? giving tax credits sounds good for those who have a job but what about those who do not have a job ??

This is what I think about the tax cuts!!
Origin
The roots of IRS go back to the Civil War when President Lincoln and Congress, in 1862, created the position of commissioner of Internal Revenue and enacted an income tax to pay war expenses. The income tax was repealed 10 years later. Congress revived the income tax in 1894, but the Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional the following year.

Enjoy tax credits!

So how will this affect the Disabled Veterans and the Elderly that don't / can't work?
We'll have no earned income, Does that mean that we will not receive a refund?

What if a candidate was suggested through the internet and enough support was rallied, we could shake up both parties and the millions required to run a campaign through the media. If necessary, he could be a write-in on the ballot and we could get our country back....just a thought

The whole rotten corrupt and greedfilled capitalist system needs to competely collapse. It is being artificially propped up anyway and has been for some time. Then and only then can you start to build back up and make us a truly worthwhile world power again rather than one that is based on smoke and mirrors and other illusions.

Are these "tax cuts" on top of the ones we have had the past 8 years? YAHOO!!!!!!!!! That extra $60 a pay check is really gonna go far. You wanna help us!!! It would have been cheaper to give every American family $10,000. Instead of letting the banks hord it. No one say that coming. Wake up. How about cutting the mortgage rates? Cutting the prime rate does little to nothing for us "little" people That pay your wages.

Heres a thought, Im only around 15,000 in debt. How about the government give out loans as an citizen bailout, for those that want one, in which we can pay back on our own through small weekly paycheck deductions intrest free. If there gonna put up money to help us out $60 bucks a week certaintly wont do much. America does not need a long term solution yet. Fix the short term problems now to help set yourself up for future situations. If Americans were bailed out on thier debt. It could a long way.

I think that he has forgotten about those of us on disabilty that could use a tax refund, or the elderly on Social Security or the unemployed desperately trying to find nonexistant jobs !!!!!

The government sould give larger tax credits for indivduals improving their household such as installing energy efficient windows and doors, buying energy efficient light bulbs, placing solar panels on their roof, or on demand water heaters. This will improve the country by getting people to spend money on improving their household, they will spend less on heating and cooling, thereby increasing the amount of money available for discretionary income. More discretionary income spent from the citizens will have a profound impact on the U.S. economy. Overall this will decrease demand for natural gas, foriegn oil, and electricity in the United States. Decreased demand means a decrease in the price of services, improving the U.S. economy even further.

All this can happen NOT from trillion dollar bailouts, not from an economic stimulus check (you know it won't last, when the economy improves those checks will dry up), but by simply increasing tax rebates for families going green.

The only way to fix this mess the neo cons have started is to do what ALL the other industrialized countries in the WORLD DO..

TRIPLE tax the rich that steal, lie, cheat (ok most) from us all!

If not, thats ok too because anarchy will come (those who live by the sword?)

Crime is going to skyrocket!
Better stay in your gated communities corrupt and privileged because you WILL get rolled.. thats your crony capitalism..
