U.S. Senate approves $42.9 billion homeland security bill (Reuters)

Our tax dollars finally working towards something useful and not towards something unnecessary like saving the polar bears in Antarctica. So long as this bill protects the freedom of America, including border control and anti-terrorism programs, I would pay every dime in ensuring our democracy.

They need that money to keep an eye on the growing list of terrorists, you know, like:

Gun owners
Conservatives
Christians
Republicans
Whit
e
Males
etc...

Last week around 108 billion approved now more/ it just does not stop
but what the hell 2012 is coming we might not be here to repay it.

Here's a great idea, how about spending a few billion dollars to fund jobs for unemployed Americans living in the Southwest( Southern Utah, Arizona, Southern Nevada, New Mexico, West Texas, Oklahoma, and Southern Colorado. The money can be used to find illegals, incarcerate them for federal fraud crimes. While we are at it we can incarcerate the "enablers", that is the employers and landlords that enable illegals to stay and take our jobs. That would be money well spengt

Nice story, but does this really mean actual security or is it lip service with money going to "humanitarian" assistance (water, transportation, etc.) to illegals crossing the desert to get here?

I'm betting we won't be seeing any actual security.....but were and in which administration donors pocket will the money ultimately be funneled?

The fence will be built along Canada and Mexico not to keep illegal's out, but to keep Americans in. When things start to get out of control here in the US, people will want to leave, but it will be too late.

It's not only the amount of money that is being spent, but HOW it is being spent.
The best thing would be to hire BETER quality people to do some of these
jobs. Look at all of the security breaches that are occuring & it makes you wonder why nothing else has happened.
As for some of the designs on 'The Fence', they could use a lot of improvement.
Look at the fences that are used in Mexico; metal stakes , concrete, constantine barbed wire, & some other "nice" items thrown in. Guaranteed
to keep out even the most ambitious person.... looks like architects probably were kids doing summer jobs at Sears or Home Depot

The Liberals are doing this to try and help Obama say look, by doing this we have saved or created 'x' amount of american jobs....keeping them out opens jobs for americans, building all this new fencing and cyber infrastructure will create jobs...Thisis nothing more than the liberals enlarging themselves as the largest employer in america...since they cant create jobs in the private sector, they will create them in the 'spend your taxdollars' sector. I am for securing our borders, but this does NOTHING to deport the illegals that are already here....

Sure, lets approve MORE money to "enhance" homeland/border security. Then when the agents try to do their job we can arrest them and throw them in jail for doing it. Then we can cry overpopulation in prison systems and make the case for more funding for the prison systems. Republicans and Democrats have failed the American citizens on this issue. "We can't round them all up and send them home." More like we WON'T! Would the American people accept that answer if they were all murderers and rapists? I think not. I didn't think they were supposed to be allowed to choose which laws they want to enforce. Pay for my gas and I will buy my own van and collect the hundreds I see on the street corners in Az. and make a run down to the border myself every Saturday and throw the bastards over the border! We couldn't afford them then and we sure as hell can't afford them now!!!

By the way, I really do feel for the Mexican citizens, but, allowing them to circumvent OUR laws to advance themselves is no different that me robbing a bank for the startup money for a business because I otherwise couldn't afford to do so. If they spent half of the energy they use on getting here, stealing identities, scamming our system on taking back thier own country, they could have changed things there a long time ago! Mexico is rich in natural resources and other possible means of monitary growth that there is no excuse for them to be a third world country. I've heard they are oppressed by their Government... Interesting, we were once oppressed by our government but we had the b*lls to fight back and take control. Now $400 million goes *plunk* down on solving it!, as a corner stone of another $42 billion! for enhanced security concerns... to fix an unspecified issue, in an unspecified way, to achieve an unspecified task, in an unspecified time.

Apparently, unspecified problems can get huge chunks of cash thrown at them, for unspecified reasons, to achieve unspecified ends, in an unspecified time... but actual problems, by real people, suffering real issues, with real deadline... well man... that's just too flipping' REAL!!

Homeland Security is a costly, worthless, bureaucratic organization that should be abolished. It was stupid to add another government agency such as Homeland Security, to an already bloated, wasteful, government.

I'll believe they are protecting the border and enforcing immigration laws when: I see less of the drop houses, no more illegals standing out on the street corners and in front of Home Depot, less trash in the southern desert that now looks like a landfill, less van rollovers due to speeding on the highway and at night with their lights off while crammed with 40 illegals into a 12 seater, less shootings and killings of peace officers, less crime in general, less hiring of illegals in favor of low wages at fast-food restaurants and construction projects, less non-english speaking people crowding all the emergency rooms and clinics, less anchor babies, less tunnels from south of the border, less identity theft and phony documents, compliance of E-verify, employer sanctions law and laws that already exist. What did I leave out? Feel free to add on.

$400 million for Cyber Security? Let's see... that would be $50,000. to some company in Uzbekistan to write a virus that wrestles for control of people's computers against other viruses who have taken control... and $399,950,000. to pay some SPECIAL group, to sit at their computers, watching screens, and monitoring that virus's battle?

I have a better idea... pay that Uzbekistan virus writing company to come up with a game like World of Warcraft where virtual warriors get into people's computers in a virtual way, and battle those viruses. The profits made would easily pay for all the cyber security a country could want!
