Protesters block Paris airport over Yemen crash (AP)

AP - Protesters linked arms across an entrance at Paris' main airport on Friday to keep passengers off a Yemeni flight to Comoros — a route that saw a deadly crash this week, after years of complaints about dangerous conditions on the flight path to the Indian Ocean island nation. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

I generally never side with the French....but what they need to do is stop all flights to Yemen....end of problem. Let the people that want to travel there catch a camel...They should be grateful that any airlines would even consider going to those destinations in the world. Crashes happen. Delays happen. Anyone that ever flies knows this....I have sat on thew runway for more hours then I care to count. Do they think planes heading to Yemen should crash and have delays. Like I said....take a camel.

Proof that .... Government regulation doesn't work.
A responsible business will do the right thing without regulation.
An irresponsible business won't follow regulation anyway!

Not to excuse the airline, but if it was well Known that this airline was so unsafe, then why the heck did these people ever get on the plane?

Airbus need to inform people . How much parts are from China because they can't verify everything in that country where if one factory closes another one pops out with the same owner. . Cost is Cheap but not lives.

When you pay South American bus fares for international jet flights.....well.......expect one or two to land on a make-shift runway.

Nancy has a mighty fine taxpayer plane. She demanded it to get home quickly to attend the weekly Kalifornia Kommunist Kommittee (KKK) meeting.

Is this the only airline that flies to the Comoros? Hard to believe. It is also important to remember that no one knows yet exactly what went wrong. The information I have seen states that the airport where the plane was going to land is considered a dangerous one at night because it has no navigation equipment of its own forcing the planes to do a visual approach and landing. At night and in a storm this is asking for problems.

With only a few exceptions sub Sahara Africa is considered the most dangerous place in the world to fly. Little or no infrastructure for airplanes and poorly trained ground people. As to the complaints that the airline overloads both people and baggage this is typical throughout Africa both in the air and on the ground. It's the way Africans live.

It is sad that it took the Comoros air crash to draw attention to what is known by most Africans, which is that old, all-but-retired aircraft are the flying coffins that even the major airlines prefer to fly on African routes. Each time I hear the expression, "metal fatigue", my own experience on certain aircraft always come back to mind; one can only continue to hope that those who extend their disdain for human life on the basis of economic considerations or colour will have a rethink before something even worse happens. The planes that fly the African route seem to be assigned the role out of something worse than malice.

That's what you get when you have anything to do with the muslim scum of the earth. If they were all in the bottom of the ocean the world would be a much safer and better place to live.

"Sarkozy named a former French ambassador to Sudan, Christine Robichon, as an ambassador charged with liaising between families and international authorities managing the search and investigation regarding the Comoros crash."

What a remarkable choice.

as i am french swiss, i always side with the french. and i like
swiss cheese, its holier than thou. and glace' is better
than ice cream. and pommes frites are better than french fries.
at least the french know how to cook. and the swiss know
how to run a country and a civilization, not an asphalt jungle
like the usa. but this protesting at the airport is really because
they are trying to block britney spears from landing there
for her concert there tomorrow on july fourth. all part of the
'battle of the bands'. clear the way!!! britney spears and the circus
are comin to town.

Hmm...are passengers being forced against their will to fly Yemenia airlines? What these muslim protestors do not seem to understand is that in a free society, people can decide for themselves which airline they choose to fly. They do not need a mob mentality to decide for them. The French Government can and will ascertain if or not they continue to allow Yemenia airlines to conduct business in France, because of subpar safety issues.

BTW, I would hardly consider an Airbus a "flying coffin."

I think if people are aware of the danger, and they still want to go, they should go. Often we put ourselves in danger for one reason or another, and we would be very perturbed if there was someone standing there warning us of what we already know. They're taking a chance, but it's a matter of free will. The nanny state is now starting to cover the entire globe to protect us, and with that, we are losing more and more freedom of choice.

People need to understand that even riding a bicycle on a road is dangerous and you could get hit by a car that goes out of control or a ship that sinks in the ocean. Danger is everywhere and it can't be stopped. I do pray for those people that did lose their lives on that flight, yet hopefully some survived. GOD BLESS their souls.

Nobody is forcing them to fly Yemini airlines. In a free society we have to make choices and if the African passengers were stupid enough to fly an airline that has a bad reputation, that was their OWN stupid fault. The Yemini protesters can take their dam protests back to Africa where they belong. Why should other airport passengers in Paris have to put up with their primitive behavior? I'm still flying on Airbus jets, if if one crashes with me on it it will be my OWN dam fault.

This incessant bitching, complaining and finger blaming must be a genetic trait. I guess Rev. Al Sharpton cannot help being the way he is....

In just about every nation, those blocking flights are committing a crime. So jail them.

No one has forced any passenger to take such flights. The protestors are committing a crime against the passengers.
