Obama to pick Clinton

A senior adviser says Barack Obama will nominate Hillary Clinton as secretary of state. » Full Story on Y! Featured

Does the aide have a name? Why not? Is this an anonymous source and why all the secrecy? If the aide is not authorised to speak for the Obama transition team, then why is the aide speaking?

I just hope Bill doesn't get in the way or Hilary. I have high hopes that Obama will do a great job for America.

DEMS..."HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN..." SO THERE WERE DOUBTERS THAT POLITICS HAVE STRANGE BEDFELLOWS? CHANGE, HA? Maybe, just maybe, that he is just folllowing the old adage of keeping one's friends close, enemies closer? Call it what you may, Obama is still a politician. But do not despair yet, it has yet to be official. Even if this were true, Obama will not have any serious opposition from the Dem ranks if Her Majesty Hillary is SOS. I wonder if Bill shutting up is part of the deal.

This has got to be the result of a deal Obama made with Clinton a while ago. No offense Barak, but I would run like heck the other way from the Clinton's. They, along with the Bushe's have had more than their fair share of the limelight, and it is time for a new era. Dragging a Clinton back into the mix just cements them being around for at least another 4 years, or maybe 8. And I say "them" because you know it will be a package deal with the two of them. It will be interesting to see if there is more to this story than meets the eye. And I agree with Megan D. Who is this aide, and why are they speaking for the Obama team?

Of course Obama and Hillary made this deal. Why do you think she would campaign. C'mon people. It was a deal made before her speech at the Dem Convention. Clearly, the Clintons had him by the you know whats, and they negotiated the Sec. of State position BEFORE she or Bill would campaign. Get real, it is still the same politics..except the Americans who voted for him were blinded by their own selfishness.

This is a time to ask -- Not what your country can do for you ... but what can you do for your country. Two great democratic minds in collective response to the crisis we find ourselves in. I applaud Barack's vision to extend his hand to Hillary. Hillary brings the strength, experience combined with Baracks positive exhuberence ... she will have his back ... and he will drive America forward!

SO MUCH FOR CHANGE. I GUESS OBAMA IS NOT THE MAN WE ALL THOUGHT HE WOULD BE OR HOPE TO BE. TO BRING THAT LIAR, AND HER CHEATING AND LYING HUBBY BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OBAMA HAS MADE SO FAR. BUT IT'S EARLY YET, HOPEFULLY HE WILL REALIZE HIS MISTAKE AND RESCIND THE OFFER OF SEC. OF STATE TO HILL THE PILL.

I think it's a great choice and she is well like worldwide. There are countries where blacks are not well liked and she will bridge that gap better than the others mentioned.

Wall Street gets a bailout with no plan, the auto makers blame the unions when their CEOs won't make the same consessions they ask the workers to keep taking, and the Democrats(who helped an impeached president not leave) are back in power. When does it all end? When does being an American and doing what is RIGHT(not politically correct)come into play? Do you really think that a Clinton in a cabinet post is a good thing? Men and women of wealth are out of touch with reality. How many CEO's are willing to take the right steps to correcting this situation? How much cash could be saved and raised if AIG executives were forced to sell all their possessions, cash in their bank accounts, give up their multi-million dollar pensions? And the same question for every other company that wants a bail-out? Your greed got you where you are and YOU have a responsibility to run your company better. Look at President Bush and his bailout of the Wall Street gang, A TRUE LAME DUCK.

GEE AND I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE TIME FOR A "CHANGE". ALL HE IS DOING IS BRINGING BACK EVERYBODY FROM THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION... AND WE HAVE BILL HIMSELF TO THANK FOR 9/11... I GUESS HE SURE PULLED THE WOOL OVER A LOT OF PEOPLES EYES DIDN'T HE.

This is the worst move he (Obama) could make. Clinton will not cheerfully take directives from Obama. She will undermine him and his authority at every opportunity. The Clintons are predatory opportunists and always will be. The old saying about about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer does not apply when your enemy is a very poisonous snake.

Don't be all black and white ... heh heh heh ... the drive for openmindedness ... freedom of thought ... is what drove the founding of our nation ... there's a big, deep bag of 8 years of s*** to dig through ... give the new guy a chance! Can't be any worse. 7% national unemployment ... not since 1999 did the Dow go so low!

If he nominates Hillary he has just lost all legitimacy and as the great Colin Powell once stated, "A nation that has lost its legitimacy will soon lose its power." She does not have the international support we need as a nation with all that is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.

if you are worried about Hillary as Sec of State -- Condoleeza Freeken Rice did us no favors as a patsy for the Bush administration ... Hillary is her own person ... and has great pants suits ... in many colors! I'm not totally nuts about her ... but during the Clinton admin -- I got continuous raises, job security, a great 401k and bought 2 new cars ... how's by you in the last 8 years and in particular ... the last 3 months?

How do you vote something DOWN!
oh by the way, did our now Pres., cause the entire
world economic to collapse?
It would seem that all countries are in a BIG mess!
But I can't wait to see how the (very new to politics) Pres., will do for or to this country...

Didn't anyone read this article? "The transition aide told The Associated Press that the two camps have worked out financial disclosure issues involving Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, and the complicated international funding of his foundation that operates in 27 countries." At a time when our countries economy is circling the drain, why are we funding the Clinton little sideline projects. Holding a position leading this country should not be about funding personal special projects and putting the money in your pocket but to help bail out the country in the financial crisis.

This is a good move by Obama.I think the repulicans are writing a lot of the comments here. They are afraid she will do her job well and make them look worse than they then they are now.If that's possible.

They are vetting the Clinton's -- Pres. Clinton does good work -- no one wants that to stop -- vetting means clearing the way, making sure their is no conflict of interests -- keeping things separate -- Obama isn't funding pres. clinton's foundation

Why would he pick her for that position? The middle east does not respect woman and Rice was completely worthless. This nation needs someone who will go over there and kickass .... not talk about it. and another thing ... how can Obama call himself BLACK when his mother was WHITE. He needs to be proud of that and set an example for his fellow Black brothers to follow!!!

Ooooh! I am sensing we need to hug this out! C'mon, group hug. Let's work on this together. I'm sure you are mad. I'm mad. But could we open this up in a way to make things work. Fighting with my fellow Americans doesn't seem like a good plan to fix things. Whatdya say?

I think most voters are tired of seeing and hearing about Hillary Clinton! I am sure there is are several people more qualified for the job, just because her name is clinton?
