This be-lingual education thing is garbage. It used to when people immigrated they wanted to learn English to assimulate(sp?). Now they want everyone to speak there language. I'm back in South Korea and my oldest is in first grade. She's speaks Korean, but is having some problem with reading. You know what they don't care. One of my students in school was born in Korea and just returned from America after fives years. You know what the Middle School doesn't care. Catch Up! That's it in the other countries.

I'm a Latino, and I don't believe affirmative action has worked the way it was intended to!! I do believe that Sotomayor will rule with her heart and not her mind.. I would love to see a Latina or Latino on the highest court, but not her.. Just because she's a Latina doesn't mean she should be treated with kid gloves..

What an embarrassment to us Latinos the world over. We as Latinos have been afforded the tools available in America to succeed with out having to depend on a so called rights group. These rights groups are not a tool that will make you study to become a professional in your field of choice nor will they be able to feed and clothe you. I am tired of people like Cesar Perales saying we have been denied positions because of color. In 98 % of cases this not the fact. It is a matter of qualification and expertise. We have many Mexican, Black and Asian professionals in American society. How did they get in such positions? They studied and continuously worked toward there goals until their was no one around them better suited for a position for which they were aspiring. I know because I am one of these professionals that made it without the help of a rights group of any kind. I simply used the tools afforded to all Legal Americans and studied smart and gained the experience!
The 'rights groups' do not support rights but support 'agendas'. Universally, the agenda is leftist as if the opposing views are not 'rights;.
I do not believe Sotomayer is capable nor fair, not balanced, nor suitable for any court.
Like Obama, she was raised and bred for this and will be placed with expectations of her vote on major issues to align with the left.

Thank God we have some schools that teach two languages...In most schools in Europe their kids speak not only their native language but learn english fluently as a second language by age 10 and 12 and sometimes 3 or 4 languages by the time they reach college....Only a ill-informed parent would deprive his child of learning two or more languages since it will be an important tool for him or her in surviving a very competitive professional world...Vet and senior...

If people like Cesar had taken the same time and effort to promote the LEGAL advancement of latinos in our American society, this wouldn't be an issue today. Forced bilingual education has enabled the cause for people who are in this country ILLEGALLY.
Since when should an exam testing an applicants knowledge be considered unneccessary for a promotion? If you want to live in this country, go through the proper proceedure and learn english. The exam that is given to become an American citizen is not written in Spanish, or Vietnamese or Arabic.

I am not even going to comment on the other posts, everyone reporting AND posting have an agenda. What I read in the article makes me think, though. I quote;

I seem to remember the President had a meeting with the leader of a very large organization that had very similar views and was as militant about those views as any group I have ever heard of. But I don't see anyone calling for the impeachment of anyone associated with the Roman Catholic Church. hmm
