Report: AIG asks gov't to approve bonus payments (AP)

AP - After its bonus payments ignited a firestorm of criticism earlier this year, American International Group Inc. is asking the federal government to weigh in on the insurer's plan to resume paying millions in promised retention incentives next week, according to media reports. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

why the hell would you want to retain people that helped you put the world in a financial crisis and cost your company billions of dollars. these people only want to rip off the american people. aig needs to be split into pieces and sold to more reputable insurance companies. all of its top execs should be terminated and banned from working in the insurance and financial business again.

NO with capital letters. I took a pay cut this year, so can they. They did not succeed - bonus is if everything goes perfect. It did not go perfect!

Time for the next round of payoffs to the O'liar campaign contributors....

Just think what a great investment on the exec's part.... Give O'liar (DNC) 100k contribution, get a 5 million dollar bonus on the tax payer's dime.

If they were smart enough to figure that out, why the F%^K can't they make a profit? Oh yeah that's right...TAXES, REGULATION, TAXES, REGULATION.................

"CZAR" means that we have no say in it. Period.
"CZARs" are people who can bypass the peoples elected officials...
But then I guess either way it really doesn't make any difference, does it?

I say absolutely not! While the rest of the US took paycuts, suffered horrific stockmarket and 401k plunges and even lost jobs due to the effect these idiots had on the economy, not to mention, I didn't get a bonus or a pay increase this year , they still want to hand out bonuses?? I'd like my money back with interest and penalties, and I'm sure the rest of the US would as well. I don't know where they're planning on getting the money to pay bonuses, but I'm sure its off of my hard earned dollar. Stick it AIG!!!

So the taxpayers pay for AIG's bad decisions, suffer because of them and then AIG wants to pay millions to their TOP employees??? Who could a TOP employee be?? What constitutes a TOP employee???? F*#k their contracts!

And to each and every taxpayer ....... raise the roof when it happens!

Personally, my butt is getting sore.

It's time to burn something to the ground. To bad I live so far away and too lazy to do so. My birthday is the 24th of this month. My b-day wish is that someone isn't lazy. My other wish besides Charlize Theron, is that the next person who approves a bailout for these @ssnuts, recieves a bullet in the face. Why did Steve McNair have to die the way he did? Why can't everyone who works or supports AIG end in McNair's fashion? Now, I'd give a bonus for the next guy who made that happen.

I so want to leave a few choice expletives in response to this article. If any legislator dares give them one more red-cent, they deserve to be tarred and feathered and hauled out of office. Oh please give me some face time with these executives.

This is unf*****-believable. I agree with the other posters, why would you PAY THESE PEOPLE bonuses, let alone retain them? Ive gotten fired just like everyone else who was honest. Apparently, you can trickf*** anyone you want and get paid.

Also, where is Obama's leadership & spine? Spend, spend, spend. SCREW these companies, LET THEM FAIL. Whats the last high-tech product innovated and manufactured in the USA?

This is stupid. They should all work for minimum wage.
Open your eyes Mr. President...I elected you to represent the real, hard-working people of America. And AIG ain't them.

Don't forget it was Dodd, Geithner, Obama who added those bonuses in at the last minute (remember closed door/secret meeting after stimulus was signed)

AIG = Another Insurance Giant. A socialist / communist institution taking revenue from the masses, donating campaign contributions to congress and senators via lobbyists to make auto and health insurance mandatory for all citizens so that the executives may receive huge bonuses.

Is anyone paying attention to the fact that AIG is the government's insurer?! You can bet Pelosi, Franks, and the rest of the Washington Scum will give them anything they want! And don't let the new name, 21st Century Insurance fool you. Same Garbage, Different Dumpster!

If they refuse these, they'd better go back and stop the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bonuses that were announced just a little after the AIG bonus issue.

Never heard of those bonuses even though they were higher than the AIG ones? Not surprising since the media gave them a complete pass even though those companies were literally taken over by the government last year while AIG is still technically private. Hypocrisy.

The $450 million in bonuses that AIG allocated in 2008 for employees, including to traders in the financial products unit that brought it to the brink of collapse, fueled public and congressional outrage.
Same old garbage, one year later. Just like Iraq...Same old Vietnam, one war later. The gvt. clowns never get it right.

Obama's buddies at Goldman Sachs don''t have to ask for permission to pay out over $14,000,000,000 in bonuses last fall after Obama was elected (84x as much as AIG was crucified for by the Democrats and the liberal media.) Even when more than $12,000,000,,000 of that money came from a tax payer bailout in October 2008.

That's right - 100% of the 12 Billion Dollars in bailout money GIVEN to Goldman Sachs was handed out to its executives as bonuses after Obama won the election in November!

Why no liberal outrage about Goldman Sachs? Hmmm?
Hypocrites.
