If my count is correct this makes 106 under Obama. I wish the AP would keep the count as under Bush. They need to let the people know what's happening. They're trying to make it look like it's only one here and there now since Obama and not like it was under Bush.
Sorry I was behind one and they did list the count. It's 107 with a lot of the year left. Only 151 died last year. I thought all this was to stop when Obama took over.
God bless the families of the marines who gave their lives for the interests of our country.
How many more will it take to secure Afghanistan?
Is it really necessary?
USMC Vet, I don't know if it's necessary. That's the real question. I think it will go right back to what it was when we say we're finished and pull out. They need to go in and do the job that needs to be done. Let the military handle it there way and not be governed by the people in DC. They aren't listening to the people and playing games.
Under Bush, the US forces created a huge figure by blindly bombing Afghanistan's villages with Daisy-Cutter bombs and Napam bombs, without even trying to know who they are killing - children, women, old people, their cattle, or something else. Now the current government is doing the great job. They have sent the troops deliberately to the area where some of the Afghans' count can be balanced. Really, it is a great decision and a great service to the .......
Long live Obama!!!
Dont turn this into another Iraq if we are serious about Afganistan send in all the men and women you can and end it quick. No more of these generals who after someone else takes over there postion coming out and saying "Well i told them that they needed more troops and that we were spread too thin" Get this done and over with. I am 25 and alot of my friends joined the military after highschool and are still in it im sick of seeing 18 year old kids dieing and i hate to say it but eventually i know one day i will see a friends face on the tv.
No one should have to die or be maimed over territory. On the other hand an estimated 37,300 people died in traffic accidents last year in the US and people still drive like maniacs. Where is the outrage about that? Can't make laws enough to govern stupidity!
IEDs and suicide bombers are the biggest threat to our troops as well as our allies. The Taliban know that they don't have a chance of winning a fire fight with the American soldiers and our allies.
Oh we ARE going to defeat the Talban and Al Quida ~ I just wish that they could get the job done quicker and get the hell out of there!
We can't hurt them bad until we burn those poppy fields. Until that happens, I believe the people on the hill are wasting our soldiers life protecting the drug dealers. War on drugs my ass!!!!
It is about time the families of our dead soldiers killed under Obama's watch speak out, because the yellow Press don't even acknowlege this fact. there are more soldiers dying now than under Bush, but nobody talks about it. Apparently they don't want to offend the Messiah that promised to bring peace. His weakness is making our soldiers pay the ultimate price. It is shameful that the liberal government controlled Press don't say anything about it like they used to.
Read, watch, look for a truth, open your eyes, use your brain!!! . What is really reason to attack other countries? Obama's goverment is not only one in USA using terrorist methods for profits and power .Victory for Afghanistan. Independent country must win. US will fall.

And the conservatives crawl out of the cess pool again. Where were you ignorant bastards when Bush was running this, or did you fail to realize we were in a war back then? What LAME Ducks.
Makes me wonder what type of person keeps count of the number of dead in a war? You put more soldiers in to get the job done and you expect more dead and wounded, common sense. No one wants to see soldiers die but because of the great job they are doing no one here at home is getting killed by the enemy are they. Some of you would be crying to the police and the President "Please protect us" if we were being hit at home. Easy to to sit in the COMFORT of your home and make stupid comments.
The costs of an endeavor need to be elavuated. So sadly, we have to count the dead, the physically wounded, the psychologically wounded, family disruption and the associated social costs, and the millions of dollars spent.
Is it worth the cost to make a stable country out of Afghanistan?
Is that even possible?
Isn't this funny? No matter how they manage to kill themselves, they always take innocent civilians with them. I guess there must be some kind of rule where they're going that says that can't get in unless they're accompanied by the charred, maimed, bloody, dismembered bodies or women and children sort of like an ID or an insurance policy to get into hell with.
It amazes me to see the blatent disrespect for our service members and our leaders. We have been in war for a long time now. People getting killed is part of war. We all know this! You honestly cannot expect our young marines and soldiers to stop getting killed or to stop killing the enemy just because we have a new president. I hope the families of our young American HEROES are able to cope with their losses and they have my sympathies.
this is a horrible travesty of war which Bush started- right or wrong.
I do believe we are not close to achieving anything, so let's pull out before we lose even more American lives.
After reading peoples comments, I often wonder what the world would be like if the USA were run like how all the political geniesus on !yahoobuzz thought it should be. It never ceases to amaze me how smart these people are. Why are they wasting their talents doing whatever job it is that they are doing? Nevermind our President, congress, senators and the such. I vote for BuckPearl! I vote for the insight of Wyliedrive! I say Realistic should be in Office! Iqbal obviously knows the inner working of our executive system! Run For Office! And if I could understand what the hell Antonio is saying, I would vote for him too! Gotta trust in our leaders sometimes. Its not Black or white. I didn't like Bush, but I trusted that he wouldnt destroy the country. I'm not a huge Obama fan, but I trust he is not trying to destroy America. Its Just like the religions, not so much the one being worshiped as much as it the ones worshiping that I'm afraid of...
"bush started it"... geez. bush started the wars, he created the stimulus package, he's the one to blame for everything...if that makes you feel better, keep on repeating yourselves.
the truth is that no matter who started any of it, obama is the one in charge now. if he sees something wrong with any of it, he and the democratic majority have the power to stop these things....but they arent. so either:
a) they dont see anything wrong with it and are showing that they agree with it by not stopping it, or
b) obama is too weak of a leader to stand up for what he really believes and to do all that he can to stop what bush started
the fact is that obama is in charge now. what happens now should be credited to him. he's fighting tooth and nail for his health care plan to be passed through and even said there is no reason to try to stop it... where is that balls-to-the-wall attitude when it comes to bringing our troops home, instead of sending more over?
I hope that We get to hear about Non US casualty events more,Its not just US service lives. And if folk stopped buying heroin it would also help.
Did these azzholes ever realized that the innocent people they are killing around have nothing to do with their unjust wars. They killed almost 600000 in Iraq and exact figure is yet to come from Afghanistan. Why are the people crying if even single of their soldiers go to hell.I never heard any cry from other side since the war started although the other side also don't have the technology USA has. Lets see where will this world heads under these dummy Leaders...
WOW...AND YOU ALL GAVE ME A THUMBS DOWN. WHEN I SPOKE ABOUT "OBAMA" IN TALKS WITH RUSSIA TO PROVIDE WEAPONS TO AFGHANISTAN..
WELL DO YOU STILL THINK IT'S OKAY...NOW???
I AM AGAINST GIVING ANYTHING TO THESE MUTTS!!! (EXCEPT..FOR THE "A" BOMB)!!!!!!
I watch the news every night. Anytime, a soldier is killed the have something about it. So I do not understand why you people are saying they are hiding it now that Obama is president. Plus, I have also seen several of our soldiers as their flag drapped coffin are brought off the plane. This is something that Bush would not allow. I am retired Air Force. I applaud Obama for making this possible. Our men and women need to be honored when they are brought home to their final resting place. The men and women who receive these Heroes have a hard job to do and they do it with dignity and honor.
Do you see Mr. Obama being there when our soldiers arrive from Afghanistan or Iraq.
Mr. Obama this is your war now and you might choke on the harsh statements you made about George Bush. I hope so.
To many lives are being lost in Afgahnistan it is becoming our new Vietnam.
Better organized but still I dare to make a comparisment and the next president will have to deal with it, President Barak Obama is not going to close it......
Neither does Michelle by the way......
Right and left are all wrong, I do not have the awnser, I wish!
I trully believe that we need to pull out soon and cut our losses........
As an vet "served under President Reagan in Beirut I have to say this is not working.
Pres Reagan saw US military get hurt and pulled out and blatantly said "It ain't our war" we came to help and became a cheap target in those day's.
Ending these wars is one thing, ending them and maintain your dignity is a while different story.
Being a humanitarian seems to be a dangerous biz these days!
Lets go help a bunch of people stay alive who want you dead!
