Maybe the French don't spend much money because their government takes most of it to support socialism. Unfortunately, this looks like the US's fate too.

Don't bother calling the Americans when next your stinking country is being taken over during WWII. I notice that most arrogant people here in the US or abroad speak French. I guess to gain French citizenship one must speak the language of arrogance. Continue swilling down the radiator coolant filled wine bottles.

Ha ha ha why doesn't that surprise me, LOl. The French are cowards to. don't forget to write that to Yahoo. Oh and the Germans aren't arrogant ??? lost me on that one. they are some of the worst , just like the French snail suckers . The only thing that can trump the Germans and the French and that's the Russians.

I am of French Canadian decent and I can attest to the fact that the French tourists from France should have their faces slapped.
If I even speak in French to them they respond with a coldness that is inexcusable. They are convinced "The French way is the only way." and that they are the master race. They should stay home.
The only thing I can chalk up to them is that their women have the most beautiful climaxes.

I would be interested to know the amount of foreign travel done by the previous bloggers. I am fortunate that I have not only travelled to, but have lived in several countries and I also do speak several European languages. I have never run into anyone rude in France and as for them not speaking English - how many Americans can speak French when they are over there. At least their healthcare system was ranked number 1 by the World Health Organization which doesn't have any axe to grind. (Italy's was number 2)

Doing a little research on local customs before traveling can cut down on perceptions. I've been to France and found people out in the countryside to be wonderful, especially Normandy. Parisians on the other hand act as though they are doing you a favor just by looking at you.

Obviously these people haven't traveled with too many Japanese tourists. They are the rudest, pushy unpleasant people I have ever met. They tip lousy they expect everything to be done for them and for everyone to move out of the way. In the last couple of years I have quit moving and run over many of them. Mexico is a nice place to go because you don't see to many Japanese travelers.

It's been a while since I've run into a french tourist, but I've spent a few summers in Europe including Paris to see the French Open. I'm bias towards Germany (girlfriend), but France ranks last in so many areas when visiting their country. They are the most expensive, least friendly, tolerant, and least interactive. If you are young and like to party, Amsterdam are hard to beat.

They are also the LEAST TOURIST friendly.
"Two miles" across the German/frog border, went into a Patisserie (Bakery).
Q. "parlevous Anglais (English)?
A. "Non.
Q. "parlevous Allemagne (German)?
On the way out, without purchase, said to my wife in German, "Die koennen us am Arsch Lecken (they can kiss our a**).
The storekeeper said, "what did you say?". In English no less!

Visited France-mainly Paris-many times and was inclined initially to believe (as so many No. Americans wrongly believe) that the French are one polite bunch. Unfortunately it’s all scripted and one that they expect everyone who visits to play by. I mean what’s the point in their saying ‘Bonjour madame’ when afterwards they treat you badly? They are quite arrogant that is for sure-not all-but the majority feel they are above it all and they feel they are never ever wrong!

Doesn't surprise me. They are arrogant and act like idiots in their own country as well. I've traveled to France on a number of ocassions and they treat foreigners, on a large scale, as a pain in the rear.

I'm really shocked that the Japanese finished high. They don't tip and are not polite, but at least they hurry in and then hurry out again. The Irish tip only 10% and not a penny more but they'll stay at the table all night and cost the wait staff any opportunity to have a paying table-they are especially nice, though. The French being considered rude is not at all a surprise, but it must have been a close poll. Not having travel experience is also no excuse; don't we Americans take grief all the time for not doing enough to learn about the place we're visiting, yet we live in a country so large that traveling out of the country for us is like traveling across the continent for them.
