Death of Travolta's son raises medical questions (AP)

AP - Millions of children and adults have seizures in the United States, but dying from one is rare. That only adds to the confusion and mystery surrounding the life and death of Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

May I ask the media a question? Can you please stop printing stories about the tragedy that this family has recently had to deal with. It is bad enough to lose a loved one without having to read, or hear about it daily. If the media had any sense of dignity they would leave this family alone now to grieve. It is a sad state that they use such a tragedy to sell newpapers and stories. Again, PLEASE stop the stories and let the healing begin for them!!

John and Kelly are most certainly responsible for this childs death. The boy was not on anti-seizure medication and although his attorney has said medication had been given him in the past - this is unverified. Moreover the idea that the particular medication was discontinued because it was no longer effective doesn't hold water. Any doctor would have recommended the boy try a different medication or a combination of medications to increase effectiveness. This is plain and simple a case of child abuse, but being that this took place out of the country and that John is entitled to a special kind of justice because of his wealth - there will be no consequences. I have only disgust for this child abusing idiot.

THIS IS A LIE: "The bottom line is that Scientologists seek conventional medical treatment for medical conditions," said Tommy Davis spokesman for the Church of Scientology (CoS). Look up Jeremy Perkins on the internet. The CoS persuaded Jeremy to not take medication for paranoid schizophrenia and he stabbed his own mother to death. The whole family were CoS members.

All of the nasty things some people are saying are not helping the Travoltas. They lost a much loved Son. I am a Christen and this is not the right way to act. Say some prayers that this family will see the light, that God will touch their hearts and they can greive in peace. Jan Grenot, Pensacola

While the loss of a family member is never easy, i'm there, my younger sister died, i must say that Scientology did indeed play a role in this young mans' death. Same said of JW's who deny blood transfusions, Pentacosts dying of snake bites, the same way Lisa McPherson died from Scientology trying to "cure" her emotional problems, it killed her nonetheless.
Wake up world, Scientology has nothing to do with religion, it is a cult, plain and simple...and needs to be eradicated from the face of the planet.

The media's coverage of this stuff is in exact proportion to the number of people who keep reading it and blogging their comments. Guess how you could best show the media that you think the Travoltas deserve some privacy in this tragedy?

I am appalled that the media is determined to turn this tragedy into anything other than just that, a horrible tragedy. The media is hunting to find a "bad guy" in this situation, ONLY because it is a celebrity. AND FYI, I am a nurse and people DO die of seizures. I have seen it several times. It isn't that rare, seizures cause many different things to occur in the human body to cause death as a result. Let these people have their privacy and stop trying to throw guilt on them. They are a model family for many, and all this finger pointing has gone past the point of just being cruel. It is unethical.

Why is this death of anyone's business other than the family members? We as a society feel that we are entitled to something which should be kept private. Allow the family to grieve and be left alone! When people do not understand something they make assumptions, many times incorrect, rather it be about a religion, race or other issue. Unless you are a member of the Scientology, then don't make comments about something you are not familiar with. Stop the speculation...stop the gossiping and allow this family to process their loss IN PRIVATE! Don't read the articles....if more didn't read the "gossip" then maybe those writing the news would write the news....not gossip.

May God grant them peace in the time when they may not have had the time to say goodbye.

My Opinion is that the Press and all of you "busy bodies" out there should MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. Whatever the cause for this boy's death I'm sure his Family is brokenhearted.
Why in the world would any of you state that they are in some way responsible. It is a well known fact that he has had health problems since he was very young. Many times John and Kelly have stated this on talk shows and also looked into and funded research to help not only their Son but other children as well. They are Good People.
How hurtful it must be for them to hear some of these unwanted and unkind statements that are being Posted here. Shame on You! You are all entitled to your own opinion but it would be much kinder to keep the unfair accusations to yourselves.
Let the Family grieve in peace. Rest assured that having lost a child myself I know that they will never get over their loss and heartache.

Travolta Family May God Be With You and help you get past this tragedy.

For the "person" who asked why they are "mugging for the cameras," those are family photos, brainchild. None of them have appeared on camera since his death, at least to my knowledge. For those who "know" that "John and Kelly" are totally responsible for Jett's death, tell it to the authorities since you obviously have personal information neither the police or media have. What kind of a society have we become that we are arrogant and bold enough to make such derogatory comments and personal accusations about people we don't even know? Instead of the voices of reason or compassion, I see only the voices of idiots, myself included for responding to your drivel. Jett Travolta died at 16 years of age. That is tragedy enough. Why is it necessary to torment the Travolta family (including little Ella) any further? As for the media - all I can say is Scum.

I've never commented on anything like this, but I want to make this discussion a first...and last.
Were you there when Jett Travolta died? Do you know the Travolta family personally? If not, you don't know what happened to Jett Travolta and to make any comments about how or why he died is rediculous!
This kind of sad discussion is how rumors and gossip start. People need to spend more time taking care of their own business and no time on discussions as these!
BTW I'm not a member of CoS, I'm an Evangelical born-again Christian, so I don't believe in what CoS teaches. What I do believe, among other things too complicated to discuss here, is that the root of most evil in our society today, is people who put their nose into places it doesn't belong and then spreading information like they've aquired it or seen it themselves.
A simple "I'm praying for/thinking about you today" would do a whole lot more good.

As a parent of a special needs child, it is so obvious this is a "special" 16-yr. old, if only by looking at him. If he indeed has autism, or some other mental retardation, think of the good the Travoltas could have done by supporting organizations, rather than staying in denial for 16 years. Their popularity could have been used to help research for these diseases. I feel sorry for their loss.

It's bad enough that they're getting all this publicity when all they want to do is mourn the loss of their son. Using such a personal and terrible family tragedy to fuel doubts just for ratings is NOT RIGHT to them. If your only son just died on a family vacation and someone wrote an article about how suspicious you were, you wouldn't be able to handle it in a tenth the stride they have. It's a terribly selfish thing to do.

Some tragedies are genuine tragedies and this is one.

The article itself is offensive. Unless you want somone to write an article or make comments about your religion and falsely accuse you of being at fault for your child's death, while you're in mourning, which something like this happens in every family at some point, I'd recommend backing off!!

L. Ron Hubbard also was:

1. A member of the elite Explorer's Club, carrying their flag on explorations twice.

1a. A master mariner. He was entitled to captain any ship of any tonnage in any sea.

2. An expert pilot and early barnstormer.

3. The first to discover how prenatal experiences affect mental health.

4. The first I know of to discover that plants feel pain and respond to negative and positive stimuli as other living creatures do.

5. A WW II veteran who was crippled and blinded at the end of the war. He healed himself with his early mental/physical studies he applied to himself and others in the naval hospital.

7. He wrote romance, westerns, thrillers and oh yea, he's one of my two favorite sci-fi writers. The other is Assimov.

Why does the press have to reduce this admirable man calling him a sci-fi writer who founded a "controversial" religion? Its like saying Ghandi was just a poor homeless person who lived off the handouts of others.

I am a parent of an autistic teen who has not experienced any seizures: however, I agree with Kelly Preston as these conditions are partially resulting form the environment. I also believe our genes play a part. My heart goes out to this family. My son, who is autistic, hasn't suffered seizures, and as being one of four children, I don't know how we would have handled it if he had. God bless all of us and our children, and if you don't believe in the same god, then ask yours to do the same (this is addressed to all readers - not to the Travolta family). Let's pray to our spirtual power for our children.

I think everyone needs to leave this one alone. Its none of our business what happened. This is personal! And for everyone who thinks that they need to make a story out of this should really GET A LIFE themselves.

Dear editor,
This is a 13 year old girl’s opinion on the Travolta family’s medical mystery. Over the past few days me and many other children my age have seen and heard things in regards t Jet’s tragic anonymity that puzzles us all. And I think it strikes us all in one small but meaningful word which is, wow! I think that all of us have a little something to learn from Jet’s death whether it be an important life lesson such as fulfill your dreams because life is so short or scientific things like the meaning of Kawasaki syndrome and the potential dangers of a seizure.

The media is asking sane questions and so far there are not any sane answers.

Ask more and get more answers--this boy's death and immediate cremation has a great many of us wondering what really happened.

Of course not those of you who have your Dixie beer and Slim Jims.
