Why is the US spending all that $$$ to take parts to the Japanese space station???
Cancel the launch and put the money to GOOD work to help more urgent needs. Why worry about space travel when we can't even take care of planet Earth??????
The shuttle launch will be something interesting to follow for the next 2 weeks...
I've had enough news from Neverland...
That would be one shuttle I would not be on.....
Don't you think this one is jinxed? I once was on a plane which got sent back to airport because of mechanical problems, so waited in airport while they got another one ready...boarded that, and they got us all off of that one due to a problem....needless to say, I went home.
The limo driver to pick me up from the airport, went to the wrong airport, and it was the evening of an October full moon....I would say, jinxed....good luck, guys
What is the big deal about outer space?! You'd think there were strip clubs out there instead of absolutely nothing!
Any bloggers that complain about launchs won't have to worry too long.
Soon they will be done with a few to go.No more will go because Bush spent too much with his Iraq War making big $$ for Cheney who was a CEO for Halliburton and he put No $$ for the Kennedy Space Center.
So don't blame Obama when this happens.
WE NEED TO FOCUS ON WHATS HAPPENING HERE ON EARTH,
LET'S SEE...................MAYBE SOLVE THE PROBLEMS HERE IN
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
maybe it is due to our problems on earth that we explore space. it is only from the vantage point of space that we can see how we here on earth are so fragile,so precious.
May I suggest they pack up and move the whole program to Southern Calfornia... i.e. Edwards Air Force Base. At least weather will never be an issue.
And they call Florida the "Sunshine State?" Time to pack up and move to Southern California's Edwards AFB?
Let me begin by saying that I'm all for space exploration. However, in today's economic climate, I think our country needs to worry about more important things -- like jobs, health care, homelessness, crime, two wars, political corruption, big banks, Detroit, and on and on. You get the drift. The only way I could see to justify all of the space shuttle launches is if we're doing something secret with our Star Wars defense or the like. Otherwise, we should save the blast-offs for more stable economic times.
GP? Leave them there in Florida thank you very much .There would be a bunch of deaf coyotes around.
Why are we wasting money on NASA when we could be spending it on foreign wars and illegal occupations?
-note for you slow NeoCons, this is what we call 'sarcasm'.
just echoing above i think the whole space program should be scratched till we get heath care, housing and poverty under control. just a waste of money, lots and lots of money
NASA is one of the few things I agree with government support.
Fully fund NASA and all it's parts.
maybe we should ask Honda engineers from Japan to build the next space shuttle. Then it might be reliable.
I am sure that if Obama hadn't been galavanting all over the world on these clandestine missions that this lightning wouldn't have happened!
I hope this shuttle launch goes well. Despite the bad economy the US should continue to fund NASA because it's a symbol of American technological might and losing its status as the #1 space power will hurt the economy more in the long run. Between the shuttles' retirement in 2012 and the launch of the next generation shuttles in 2015 NASA will have to rely on Russian spacecraft. NASA plans to send a human back to the Moon in 2019. The problem is, China, India, EU, Japan, and Russia are all planning manned landings between 2020-2025. The US can't afford to not be the first to go back to the moon in almost 50 years, let alone the sixth.
This is all the fault of the GOP. They caused the lightning - now if only they'd cause lightning to strike our beloved Speaker - Pelosi..... hmmmm... wistful thinking...
Wasn't the reason for the first two delays because of a recurring gas leak? Now that would have been interesting with a lightning strike!!
The Shuttle has run its course; a victim of multiple needs and excess promises, it still is an amazing piece of hardware. It is too bad NASA didn't hire Dick Rutan to design and build the replacement.
