Even Cockroaches Get Fat on Bad Food (LiveScience.com)

LiveScience.com - Cockroaches may be tiny enough to slip through the smallest of cracks, but just like humans, these eternal pests can get fat on an unhealthy diet. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

When I used to see cockroaches I would buy Combat roach killer at the store!

Speaking of which: Try living on $102 a month SNAP food credit- that's what my husband and I are expected to live on. We're both type two diabetic and dietic foods cost more than we can afford.

Is this a f*&$ing joke!!! There are certainly more important things worth studying on this planet than cockroaches! If this is how researchers are going to utilize our tax dollars, I say can all of them! The only thing I want to learn about the cockroach is a 100%, never use it more than once, killing system; one that you don't have to have repeated monthly.

And we are paying for this pointless test? Why don't they start worrying about starving famlies and children istead of roaches.

Are we sure they were testing cockroaches? Most likely it was the current occupants of the Whitehouse

Interesting that it took researcher's 10 years to figure out that by literally starving roach's they don't reproduce as much.
If you have ever been in a house with roaches, you could have made that observation yourself with out having to spend so much money to find it out.

"Females that ate a poor-quality diet were less willing to mate and less likely to produce offspring. They were also more picky and spent more time considering possible mates."

Strange. It has the opposite effect in the human female. :D

Bring the thumbs down!

After 10 friggin' years, they determine cockroaches can get fat?

How much did this crap cost? Holy cow, who didnt know that they eat anything they can get.

Now are we gonna have to pay for government mandated weight loss programs for cockroaches?
After all, it's not their fault they are fat, maybe the ACLU can sue the person in whose home the roaches got fat in for not providing healthier menu alternatives, with clearly visible FDA approved contents labels and calorie information.
Obviously there is a huge problem here..........

If the cockroaches at Mickey D's look anything like the women ordering milkshakes at the counter, that would be a truly frightening encounter!

I cannot believe that someone actually took the time (and I bet, money) to find out this nonsense. Where did the money for this "research" come from, hum...? More taxpayer dollars being misused no doubt.

It just boggles the mind to learn that our "best and brightest" are wasting their time and talents on this drivel. So glad I step on the little bastards whenever I see them. How's that for research? I didn't even have to receive any money for it either! Imagine!

And this is not something that is obvious? Another waste of money. Now can we spend this money on something a little more needed? And yes this is a good country to be a roach of many kinds.

That's because roaches usually infest low-income housing, where they don't have a macrobiotic diet to live on. GOD, who in the hell is paying for crappy studies like this? I don't give a rat's ass about fat insects.

Millions go to bed hungry, lack clean water and adequate schooling and medical care. The earth is heating up, the ice caps are melting, and nations that once existed will soon disappear under the rising oceans.

And scientists who could be trying to find the answers to these problems overfeed cockroaches to see if they feel sexy.

And we pay to find out the answer.

Speechless.

Cool! Now I can get rid of the cockroach sprays and give them (the roaches) the left-overs from lunch and dinner! Who said that if all life ended with the exception of one on the planet the only remaining life-form would be cockroaches?!

PETA has just announced that it plans to sue people who keep fattening food around the house. "It's dangerous to our six legged friends," one high-ranking Peta d*pshit exclaimed. "They become obese, have trouble squeezing through cracks in the wall, and get picked on by the slim, slender roaches." Shortly after making her statement, someone threw a butterfly net over her head and maced her.

Got an email from Terminex. Apparently there is a bill waiting to be signed where we have to feed the roaches and not hurt them.
