I hope they take her to task. She is a racist and sexist. We do not need activist judges.

She is one of the worst outright racistists! If a white person ever spewed the s*** she has spewed they would automatically be ousted from the nomination! This women does not belong on the Supreme court . She is just another one of Obamanation's community leaders looking for reparations for her people. This is outright RACIST! Why are we as Americans accepting this politically correct b*******! It is over we are all equal. By promoting racist judges, racisim does not go away it inflames it !!! People of this generation don't look at each other anymore like the government does. The government loves to keep us all divided for their political adgendas! This has got to stop NOW! Voice your opinions Americans of all creeds and color! Call your representatives and let them know how assinine and suckup -like they are being with our well being! ?

We have no room for a racist person like her in the court room. Any court room, unless she’s on trial for a crime!

All potential judges should be evaluated as to their regard to the Constitution and its specifications that Congress sets law and the Supreme Court applies it. I get very concerned with anyone who feels it is their job to interpret it based on foreign law or any other external source. If a law can't stand on its own, or fit into the framework of existing laws and decisions, or (and I know this is radical) be determined based on the Congressional intent based on the recorded debates and discussion, then it should be passed back to Congress for review and/or clarification.

No one person (or group of 9) should have the power to unilaterially declare that their personal interpretation superceeds the intent of Congress. Members of Congress of all policital stripes need to stand up and demand that all nominees be held to one standard - acceptance of Consititutional law and rejection of legislating from the bench.

This woman has repeatedly made it clear she takes her prejudices to the bench with her.

That is grounds for dismissal at any level, and most certainly should be grounds for refusing her appointment to the Supreme Court!!

If a white male had said "a white man is a better judge than a latina" he would not only lose any posability for appointment, he would probably face charges.
But for some reason, that is racist, but no one wants to call the exact same racism from this woman's mouth racism when she says a Latina is a better judge than a white man.

Her track record is anything but admirable, and there are far more qualified people to appoint. Some of them hispanic women who earned their positions without affirmative action programs and who do Not show a racial bias on the bench!

The Dems blocked a very qualified Latino years ago. Nothing special about this one as they (Dems) have already shown they are not concerned with a Latino, just a Lib vote. The GOP left Ginsberg alone, so they should be right in this womans face. Also, how in the hell is Al Franken on this committee? Shhhesh!!

The Court is going to get her regardless of her activism. My pity is for the Supreme Court Judges and for whites on whose cases she will rule.

Did you hear about the Gay Man at Duke University whose been sodomoizing his adopted son on webcasts? Who chose an African-American child to adopt because they're set up to be abused? NO YOU HAVEN'T. Imagine if the it were a Straigt, White Man... is there enough air time or ink to cover that story?! We've got plenty enough racism..,. Let's keep the Supreme Court un-biased. Bye Bye, Sonia!

what everyone else seems to not realize is that its more than just republicans wanting this lady (wanted to say something else) to go down... she's sexist and racist, she plays a 2 faced card, she's not clean, she is Ac/Dc's "dirty deeds" in every meaning of the song...
hopefully she is evaluated properly...

I like the use of the word attack. Kinda makes you think that it is an unwarranted act on Ms Sonia. I wonder if Time has a political bias? Nah, they are "journalists" and are fair and unbiased.

p.s. I cancelled my subscription to this rag years ago for this very reason.

If a republican president sent anyone as unqualified as this woman is up for the court would the headline be "democrats to attack". I think not, come on yahoo you have seen what the lib slant has done to broadcast new and newspapers. Report the news not shape opinion.

The Republicans are showing their true "colors" of intent with their ridculous accusations and baby crying complaints about Sotomayor. If a person can't see how lame duck the Republicans today are......they are blind as bats! The only hope for this country is for ALL of us to see just how sad the Republican party has become and not to forget when election time rolls around again, we must keep fresh in mind how bad of an image the Republican party continues to give to the world, it's shameful!

If she is such a wise Latina, move her racist fanny back to Mexico.

She is a racist and frequently has her cases (6) over turned by the Supreme Court. Need a competent judge that determines cases by merit not feelings. "I feel you did it" is the not the letter of the law nor does it satisfy reasonable doubt. We need a person who defends the constitution, not changes it.

I am deeply offended by this nomination.

GOP should send in Bush and Cheney.

Bush could debate them both at the same time, while eating dinner, and clearing brush.....out of the bush!

Maybe give let Rush take a few extra Vicodin, sent him with his brillant logic and charm.

GOP ESAD

Al Franken is on a panel that will question a candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States. Govs Schwartzenegger and Ventura were punchlines for late night TV. This is downright scary. I pray for the future of this country. Please get out and vote in 2010 and make it Right again.

Did you notice... the headline on this piece used "attack" on the desktop... but, its "go after" here. What's wrong with the word "probe" or "interview" or "investigate"? IT IS THEIR JOB TO DISCERN ANY NOMINEE's BACKGROUND AND THINKING. The media is SO pathetically predictable in it's biases. No wonder newspapers are closing!!!

Nobama's choice is, as usual, garbage. But he'll get her because that's the make up of the committee: Majority; Democrat LIBERALS,
minority, republican conservatives. It's reality, get used to it, the ruination of our nation is NOBAMA!~!~ and that silly senate.
I haven't read what her stand on abortion is, she's latina, in all likliehood she was Roman Catholic at one point in her life or another.
BE CAREFUL........NOBAMA, she might be a "closet conservative".
OOOOhhhhh, booga wooga, scary isn't it? NOT.

it really doesn't matter. the republicans are irrelelevant. all they have now is yahoo message baords, rush limbaugh, and fox news. the only places where they can win elections are the deep ignorant south, dick cheney wyoming, and places where people believe the earth is 6 thousand years old. republicans should stick to what they do best...that is fondling page boys, having overseas affairs, and reaching under the next bathroom stall.

No to mention that she thinks she is to legislate from the bench, NOT interprest the laws. DANGEROUS. But, that's what Obama wants. REMEMBER, he said that he wants to fundamentally change this country.

I wonder why TIME didn't point out her close association with La Raza? In the event some of you aren't familiar with this group they believe and support Mexicos right to annex part of the US southwest. La Raza believe illegal aliens have the right to drivers license and should not be subject to search and detainment by local or state police. Do we want a Supreme to be a member of a group this radical?

When democrats questioned Bush's nominees it was never "ATTACKING". It was always "Democrats have concerns about nominee".

The media does not even bother to try to deny it's bias any more, for which I suppose we should be GRATEFUL.

Why are Libs so Butt ugly???

Abe Lincoln wouldn't hire a man because of looks. Said at 40, he was responsible for his face and scowl lines.

So why are the republicans accused of 'attacking' when the democrats for the past 8 years have only 'examined' potential candidates? In fact the republicans (I think) have been too soft and the democrats have been allowed to do everything up to character assignation to avoid voting on what were and are good, responsible people wanting to protect the constitution of the United States. I am not confident at all in the worman's capabilities; she has been overturned OVER HALF of the time in her rulings. That tells me she is not objective and tries to insert her personal beliefs into her rulings.

SUPREME COURT JUDGES ARE SWORN TO BASE THEIR DECISIONS ON CONSTUTIONAL LAW, NOT PERSONAL OPINION, WHICH SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY EXCLUDE HER ASIDE FROM HER BEING A RACIST AND A SEXIST

What a surprize... the "Progressive" (read Marxist) President and former neighborhood organizer... nominates a Minorities Rights (read Racist) Progressive (read Liberal Democrat) to the Supreme Court.

I'm just amazed! LOL! LMAO!

When you point out the truth about a liberal in this country, you are attacking. If you lie about a conservative you are bravley fighting the good fight. The double standard is just amazing. I wonder if Sotomayor will get the same treatment that Robert Bork got?

What a bunch of biased jerks this press is..."GOP ATTACKS" ??
The fact that the media is state run is very scary. I hate the media...
I don't believe a dam.n thing they say. It gives journalists everywhere
a bad name. They have to be disgusted with themselves...if not now, then one day when they look back on their careers. It's thoroughly disgusting.
