Taliban confirms capture of US soldier (AP)

AP - The Taliban confirmed on its Web site that it is holding an American soldier that the U.S. military had earlier described as possibly being in enemy hands. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Here's how this works: If it's an American and he is being held
and tortured, the DEMs/liberals and lib media won't say anything.
No protests, no demands.
If it's someone on GITMO, the DEMs/libs will march on DC.
Just wait you lib bastard national media. Your day is coming for
all the lies you promoted during the presidential campaign and
now.

Scumbags. The US always wimps out in these situations and will continue to do so always which is why we are a nation of pansies. Our desire to always be politically correct, our "leaders" who are all on the take, all corrupt, all a bunch of sellouts looking to preserve their jobs as "representatives" of the people who have zero desire to join us in the ranks of reality in America, continue to sell this countries soul...........We lost a long time ago and yet we continue to allow this to go on. I say impeach ALL members of our current politics!!! Start over.

Had we spent more time in Afghanistan and less time "freeing" the unappreciative people in Iraq, then maybe the Taliban would have been eliminated by now. Thus this wouldnt have happened. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, this is sad. This brave defender of freedom let down his guard and got drunk (read: heroin addict). I must be all cried out because I'm finding it hard to shed a tear for this trained killer..not for want of trying. Perhaps when he loses his head, I might.

Yep, sounds like he's deserted the Great Satan and joined the mujahideen. This happens more often than people think but is hushed up by the American govt. You can't blame him for wanting to be on the winning side!

Why don't we just kill these bastards once and for all and totally f*** Afghanistan up. Oh yeah Obama is at the helm and he is a total pussy with no balls who believes in letting terrorist prisoners free to roam the streets of the US.

There are checkpoints at the gates. He couldn't just leave without looking like an Afgan civilian. Probably thought someone was his friend, talked him into leaving the base, then turned him over. Lame makes a good point too. Very strange situation.

Someone should ask Dick Cheney if the Taliban can legally torture him?

Of do you have to be signed on to the Geneva Accords to legally torture POWs?

Wasn't this person reported to be a chief petty officer a few days ago? If that is still true then why is he still being reported as a 'soldier'? Soldiers are in the Army, petty officers are Navy personnel and are therefore 'sailors'.....they are never soldiers.

He left post with 3 Afghans (don't trust any of them), that he obviously trusted. Now he will probably pay with his life. Prayers for him & his family. I wish America had a real president at this time that would really spill lots & lots of Muslim blood. Not bow down to them & kiss their feet. Obama will get more Americans killed & divide our country just like the civil war.

Bush occupied defenseless Afghanistan for seven years. If he was such a macho man why didn't he solve this problem years ago?

Obama has actually presented his generals with a war objective and he's letting them do the fighting.

Pakistan is in the thick of it...and they never lifted finger when Junior was president.

Obvama has reinforced the US presense and they are now making a serious move in Afghanistan.

The Taliban kicked Bush's arze and he failed to get Binladen...who killed amny people since.

Get out of Iraq and get out of Afghanistan. No one approved of you damnable idiot politicians occupying by force ANY country. Not one lesson has been learned from Vietnam.

It is not America's place NOR right to occupy anything or anyone. This country is broke in more ways than one because of idiots who lie to us and *THINK* by force they're gonna force their will on others.

Dead Robert McNamara was an EVIL rat bastard and starting with Bush until now all who participate in this MADNESS of force by occupation are evil rat bastards too

Once again, the media has no issues reporting on this and put this man's life in danger, yet they make pacts to keep a journalist's kidnapping a secret because they said they didn't want to endanger HIS life. Just absolutely amazing. As I've said, if you aren't a so-called "journalist," your life is worth nothing but a headline.
I love how schools teach journalism ethics. Last I checked, journalists had no code of ethics in practice, and have made it quite clear they have no plan to have one. But for the few who go into the game genuinely with a good head on their shoulders, these people really are generally bottom feeders. They have managed to completely anihilate the term "tabloid" and put every publication on an even plane of melded fact & fiction.

Speaking of Cheney and torture.

Can North Korea legally torture the two women journalists they captured and convicted of espionage?

Any of you christian conservatives care to answer. I don't think Dick-hed Cheney is onboard here.

I didn't know that a drunk soldier could just wander around the post like that. I figured he would have been confronted by the guards, let alone leaving the base. I didn't know you were allowed to get sh!t faced drunk while on active duty!

This story has too many holes in it. It's pretty hard to get drunk over there. So not going to believe Taliban on that one. Could he have been lured off post with promises of wine women and song.... a distinct possibility.
Tracey you are a liberal brainwashed A$$Hole that has no idea what you are talking about. You have no idea what our troops go through to defend your right to be the whimpering crybaby that would wet his/her pants if you had to stand up and defend our freedoms

America is being tested with our new leader. We are going to be screwed with by all countries because they smell a pushover at the top. Bye Bye America. As far as the soldier, I don't know what to think since they change the story to whatever they feel at the time.

Mujahideen of the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan shot down 4 helicopters of invaders Sunday 05-07-2009, Mujahideen of the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan have shot down 4 helicopters of the enemy in the past 24 hours with anti-aircraft guns. This is one of the first times that the enemy loses 4 helicopters in one go. Mujahideen shot a military helicopter in Tagab district of Kapissa province during armed confrontation with the invading forces while Mujahideen destroyed another helicopter in Gramser district of Helmand province. American forces based in Helmand have launched attacks against the areas liberated by Mujahideen. However, the Mujahideen, using tip-and-run tactics, have sustained great losses on the enemy including material and life casualties. Similarly, Mujahideen downed an enemy helicopter by shots from 82mm howitzer while Mujahideen hit another helicopter with Z-K-1 anti-aircraft gun.

Shame on the Army for reporting that this brave soldier was drunk.

The natural state for an off duty combat soldier is drunk.

Why shame this Brave Soldier?

Yes, this Soldier is a brave man, any American Soldier in a combat zone is a brave soldier.

This is what happens when the Democrats run a war.

Next Hippy Democrats are going to be spitting on soldiers.
