Palin to resign as governor

In a surprise announcement, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she is stepping down July 26. » Full Story on Y! Featured

If she runs for anything else how could this possibly help her? It sounds as if the only reason she is resigning is to make more money.

Palin resigning shows how viciously the liberals in the media came after her in the most sexist, misogynistic, ideologically biased and hateful way possible. You can’t blame Palin for resigning since the lib media made it their personal, ideological mission to ruin her. Whether it’s personal attacks about her gender/intelligence, or the most virulent attacks against her family including underage daughters or her Down’s Syndrome baby—the liberal media clearly forced Palin out of office with the intimidation of more ridicule if she didn’t. With the liberal media’s misconduct, it’s clear they’re severe hypocrites when it comes to women and gender equality because with Palin, they sent the message loud and clear that they will ruin you if you’re a woman and oppose abortion. Further, the media has sent a chill down the average American’s spine who wants to enter politics with the way they treated Palin, someone who was just passionate about representing the little guy.

If she truly "loved" her State, she would not be running from her Oath and responsibility...apparently, a scandal will surface. And, shirking the Governorship because she can't take the heat and wants to promote her book, is most selfish rather than unselfish. Smells Alaskan "fishy" to me.

Palin did not and does deserve the socialist liberal media abuse which has been visciously co-ordinated!!

The dumbocrats must be awfully scared of this bright beautiful woman.

Best wishes to a quality dynamo!!

Your passion, morale character, and professionalism serves you and America well.

Feel sorry for all conservative women in this country. With 52% of the population plus the liberal media ready to chastise every move you make, just a no-win situation.

Too bad liberals can't practice what they preach but again if it weren't for double standards they would have no standards at all.

PS, if you all are this shrill come 2010 elections, you may want to get ready for a big surprise. You blamed Republicans and Conservatives for being mean and heartless - I think liberals have set the bar to a new low.

If she was frustrated with her role as governor, she will only show frustration in her role as possible president for 2012...

She's all winks and smiles when things are going well, but as soon as the heat gets turned up, poll numbers go down, and oil revenues shrink - she leaves in a huff. Like most beauty pageant contestants, she's spoiled and selfish. She talks about service, but it's her own agenda, not that of those who elect her, she looks out for.

The republicans don't want her, what ticket is she going to run on? Maybe this is about firing the brother-in-law thing, wasn't that due to come to court? Getting out of the spotlight so you can get in the spotlight makes no sense. 2012 is 3 years away. Something is stinky in Alaska.

Talk about a litmus test! The idea that the GOP would consider a person who would do such a thing as resign office for no apparent reason merely proves that, because she has the right positions, they don't really care how irresponsible she is. Imagine if she just up and decided to quit being President. God help us all.

ohhhhhh are the Democrats pissing in their pants (and dresses) now. They pushed the media and press to try to knock down her ideals of family and God all during the presidential race, because she represented what America (not "Bam-a-ca") truly is. Even though Acore bribed all the illegals to vote for "Rama-jama-bama", and he is now has been destroying our country for the past 6 months, it is so obvious that all the idiots in the Democrat Controlled Congress are worried about her popularity...ohhhhh yeeeeah. If we still have a country left by 2012 and not taking Chineese or India speaking lessons, the Dumb Dems will be running for the hills.

She just doesnt seem cut out for public office. Letterman may have been in bad taste, but she did more to bring it to the media's attention by firing back. and how much more of an example is needed that abstinence only education doesnt work than her own knocked up teenage daughter, not even out of high school and saddled with a down syndrome child. well-off married adults are hardly prepared to deal with that. i like small government, and i hate the power obama is trying to secure for the federal gov't, but neither can i stand the supposed "moral superiority" of the right that would make church morals and ethics into laws that make criminals of people who are only human and try to limit education to what people are "supposed" to do. their own party leaders can't demonstrate marital fidelity... what's so sacred that homosexuals being allowed to marry would mess up?
you ask me - and im sure few people would - the whole bloody system stinks

Whatever Sarah does, I'm behind her! I think it is hysterical listening to the punits trying to figure it out! :-) No leaks from her inner circle because they are faithful to her...liberals, do you know what that means?

It's up to the lady what she chooses to do. Perhaps she's stepping down because from several news sources, a lot of Alaskans didn't give her a very high approval rating as Governor of their state. In fact, she ticked quite a few off. Maybe she felt some heat from that, or it could be simply because she wants some "Grandma time." In either case, I say big deal...

The way Sara Palin has been treated by the media is VERY wrong. She is a christian lady who stands up for her beliefs. It is politically incorrect though to ever speak against "Homosexuality" and other things that liberals seem to have no problem with, so she quickly became someone for liberals to pick on. Our country would be a better place if we had more politicians like Palin. We need leaders that pray to God for guidance.

It strikes me that nothing John McCain has done or will do, can remove the stain to his honor he incurred by putting his nation at risk for attempting to make Palin a step away from the oval office. She,quite simply, has a second rate intellect.

thank you one and all for the deep and insightful views on who and what the "government" should, would and is gonna do - now that vanity fair magazine is calling the shots maybe we can get Susan Lucci to run, she won't put up with any of that political back biting BS ! this has gotten WAY past "dumbacrats and repubikans", there is an honest and SERIOUS lack of intelligence and integrity from the very top down and I FEAR it will be the ruin of US ALL ! we need a third party NOW, call it the moderate or call it anything you want but if we do not get one established damn quick it will be history and most of the books won't even depict the true story !!

When are Americans going to wake up? Obama and crew are turning America into a Socialist State without opposition, they are importing votes from third world countries to ensure their continued reign of power in 2012, and now we as Americans are allowing them to demonize and terrorize any decent politician they see as a potential threat. Perhaps when Americans are paying 55% of their income in taxes as are the Canadians and it is too late to reverse the damage done by this out of control liberal agenda will they smell the roses. America needs honest politicians like Sarah Palin we need a lot more of them now!
