A 60's style commercial with 60's attitudes towards women. Wow..."My husband demonstrated to me how to do it, and I was able to do it with my limited (computer) skills," she said. "It was very user-friendly." Like women are too dumb to figure these things out? Give me a break! There are many women who are more computer savvy than men and make a living at it. Shame on the SSA for creating such an insulting commercial. Can't they just say, "Hey everyone, you can now sign up online."?! I think most people today can figure it out. If not, let them call a computer savvy friend or relative. So not only do they waste money, they insult women in the process. The SSA needs more than a website overhaul. Their attitudes need a 21st Century update as well. We aren't in the 60's anymore!!

Oh, this is just outstanding timely news! I signed up for Social Security retirement benefits over seven months ago online and have been receiving my benefit payments ever since! This is a reiteration of old news!

I really hope this is going to ber a safe and effective way to sign up. My only worry will be people trying to get benefits who are not eligible. No real documentation? No signature required? Way to go!!!

I can see how scams will originate with stolen SS numbers and info from computers and confiscated mail, etc. Let's hope this can be stopped. It doesn't look good especially with lines jammed with callers and overworked personnel trying to verify info.

Congratulations to SSA for joining the 20th century. Yes I meant to say 20th. What's the big deal about 10,000. That's 200 per state. Each state has a least four offices which averages 50 a day per office.

I think it is a stupid idea no matter who thought of it. Illegal aliens are already taking advantage
of the social security administration. Get that
I.D. and citizenship papers etc. I've had to work
over 50 years for what I'm getting and thats not
enough to live on.

Why are we getting so worked up about SSA, the program is pretty much bankrupt thanks to the current administration. It doesn't help that all of these damn illegals are bleeding it dry as well. There's no point to it anymore.
