There is no free lunch, and there are no free wars. Wars do not stimulate the economy: They drag it down. We will all be paying for this disastrous war for decades. With Americans disillusioned about the Iraq war, and the economy tanking in part because of it, the cold, undeniable economic impact of both of these wars may finally sink in. Perhaps it will make it harder for governments to wage future frivolous wars.

I agree with RobertG, all the countries in the middle east have been having civil wars for thousands of years, I think we should leave them to it, probably not in our best interests, because if it was, we would never have gone there in the first place!

We had alot invested in Iraq..... 4000 of our brave military men and women lost their lives to bring freedom and hope to the people there.... The results of the success that has come has been women rights, a true and actual democracy where the people of Iraq were able to actually pick their own leaders, tyrants were killed and driven out hope was given to other middle east nations (i.e. what we are now seeing in Iran).....
Then Obama comes along, reduces Military expenditures, yanks the troops and all that was worked for and accomplished now appears to be in jeopardy...
Everything that Obama and his cohorts have touched these past 6 months has turned to crap; The rediculous bailouts and continuation of high salaries for the UAW; the war in Iraq; The Economy in General (i.e an unemployment rate that will likely hit higher than 11% by years end); sending enemy combatants from club Gitmo back out to fight against and kill our soldiers; Reductions in Defense capabilities; encouraging idleness and lazyness by attempting to have taxpayers pick up the college education and healthcare costs of people who refuse to compete in the job market for these benefits; etc., etc.
We the people need to take back our country beginning in 2010... Obama is a lawyer who has never been responsible for running anything and yet he is given "charge" of the largst Economy and the biggest peace keeping force in the free world.... He is in over his head.... way over his head.
