If I were this guy, I would have studyed the Bering Sea a whole lot better. I know because I lived further North in Nome and lived one street from the Bering Sea and have seen the wrath of this body of water. He should have watched the Deadliest Catch because there are days like that even in Summer!!

why in the world would you kayak through some of the most trewacherous waters on this planet? Even in calmer off season, it is still very nasty with currents and breakers. Stupido frog.

Nom-de Dieu !
C'est le U-Ess-Coss-Garde ! Enfin !

Like the German coast guard's first day on the job.
He gets a distress call from a US ship -
" Mayday-mayday ---we are sinking -- repeat --
---we are sinking --- "
The German rookie replies ..
" Vat are dou sinking about ?..."

I have to admit..nice attempt. This is not stupidity, as long as there is an adventure ad an opportunity to beat the odds, man will try to do it. I give kudos for the attempt.. I think getting across the Atlantic is quite a job in itself! I hope he trys again and makes it!

Some people have an inordinate amount of FREE TIME on their hands, when they should be WORKING and MAKING MONEY to pay their bills.
(S'cuse me while I take off on a short 5 year vacation down to Australia and just hand out and drink beer....)

Glory goes to the U.S. Coast Guard members that train for these rescues, and are at the ready 24/7! Where would this Frenchman be without our awesome Coast Guard? I am grateful for their vigilance and bravery! - Remember them in your prayers!

I hope the USCG sends this guy a bill for saving his life. Of course, since he was just paddling in his little boat and you don't get paid for paddling, the CG will probably get a thank you note-maybe. We know how the French hate to say they were wrong!

I personally think this guy is stupid! Why would you paddle a kayak in the bering sea? That sea has been known to kill at least 40 some thing crab fisherman. I would have suggested in going onto the pacific ocean instead. He should consider himself extremely lucky.

Gee capn I thought you were busy with that blondes leg. This guy needs to read up a bit on what he is getting into before trying a stunt like that. Now I am off to swim across the pacific. Don't worry I got a bottle of sharkaway.

I applaud this guy... in fact anyone who makes an attempt to go for the brass ring in their life, whatever it s... I used to live in Alaska, I am amazed that he even thought he could cross the Bearing Sea in a kayak... amazed, but I still think the attempt is awesome... so much more living has been going on in his days compared to those folks with all the negative input here... that's envy... we on't know what this is costing hi or why he wanted to make this attempt or really anything... I'd like to see the movie... What is your movie about...?
