This N.Y. sleezebag has some grim days ahead, even in this facility he is not free to live his accustomed life style. A ole fashion rump ringing by one of his former clients incarcerated family could still be in the works!!

Like I've been telling everyone all along: Club Fed. Wonder how much it cost in bribes to get him there. Put him in Maximum Security where he belongs. Bet after a couple of weeks with his new roomies, he'll be singing to the feds about who all of his co-horts were... and no need to waterboard him.

why in the hell should this man go to a Federal prison??? he is no better (if not worse) then the young person they stick in a state prison for 15 years for stealing $20 to support a drug sickness...this man has ruined thousands of people's lives and should face the prison where he has to fight for his own life!!!!..and now his wife can continue her lifestyle in Manhatten while all those he robbed are sick at heart!!!...put him with the Enron guys, they can discuss their next "white collar" theft..

My cousin stole $3200 dollars in 1989 and was sentenced to the toughest penitentiaries in the state. With any luck he may be out by 2020. Madoff engineered the biggest rip off in the history of the country, and gets medium ( in reality minimum ) security in the "Jewel" of the federal Prison system. Justice is not blind, she is corrupt. Who decided this and on what basis does he deserve such considerations?

I predict a massive hue & cry about this "Club Fed" for Madoff from the thousands of ripped-off clients. I know if I lost millions, I'd be furiously contacting any and all the people who decided he could have this what sounds to be a cushy new life. Maybe his life will be "tushy" instead?

I work for a legit financial firm (Our name is on the recent Super bowl Stadium) and people like him have slowed my business....positive rates of return in a down market can be achieved without thievery and dishonest behavior....Let this man go down! Too bad he gets camp snoopy!

He'll never eat grits. With his stollen money spirited away he can afford to buy anything/one he pleases in prison. People like Madoff never have bad time.

He'll catch up on TV and reading - what most old men his age do.

His wife will move to S.C. close to the prison since her portion of the stolen money won't go far in NYC. Perfect retirement plan for the both of them.

Isn't it amazing that our court system can be so concerned over the "stress" that a maximum-security prison would cause this SOB, yet there's no relief from the stress for the hundreds of victims of his con - most of which won't have the luxury of sitting in a paid for "home" and not having to worry where their next meal is coming from.
What about the stress of a retired person who now, because of this man's greed, has lost everything and finds him or herself having to try to find a job now and the retirement "dream" has been shattered.

As far as I'm concerned, ANY prison is too good for Madoff...he shoulda been put in a hole, covered over with powdered cement and well-watered!

This entire accounting is sensationalistic hype. Security levels of prisoners is assigned solely by history of violence. White collar criminals ( and most blue collar criminals - like machine shop crimes ) only see max confinement if they conspired to do violence or hire it. He was never in danger of max confinement and after a few years of medium he will be downgraded to minimum and coast through his sentence in a camp.

'F him, let him rot in prison and get molested by the inmates; he deserves it. He ruined lives, show him how it feels right back. I have no sympathy in the last for scum bags like him, he's a disgrace to society and to the honest man trying to make a living.
