What does the headline "Los Angeles would `love' contribution for memorial" have to do with his exwife going to the memorial service? And do we really care if she does or not?

Funeral industry insiders report that Michael Jackson will be buried in a Batesville Casket called the Promethean. The casket costs 25,000.00 USD. The 14-karat gold-plated casket comes with a dark blue velvet interior and a hand-polished, mirror finish.

For someone who could not seem to pay his bills, I guess avarice and gluttony continue well after death. That $25K would do well in the black community doing something else rather than be a burial container for a child pedophile. Where's the protests about that? Oh, I forgot, he was also black too. the services, security, rental of the center all should be paid for by the Jacksons, out of his estate. He's the one with the big bucks. why should the state foot the bill. If it was my funeral, my family would be expected to pay for everything.

I have never seen so much disrespect as I have in these postings. Whatever MJ did should just be put on hold for the time being, I certainly don't condone whatever is it claimed that he did to youngsters in the past, but for gosh sakes, HE DIED. He has family mourning for him (well, most of the family at least, I don't care too much for the Dad), but Micheal was a super great entertainer and deserves respect for at least that. I just needed to get that off my chest, okay, you can THUMBS DOWN me all you want, but please be respectfull, at least for now.

I see the Rev. Al Sharpton is spouting his bleeding heart, stick your hand out, liberal rhetoric. The fact of the matter is if this were a funeral for a commoner, then that person's family and/or estate would be expected to reimburse the government for the expense of providing police escorts and the like. Why shouldn't the rich Jackson family be expected to foot the bill for this spectacle? After all, they chose to exploit this death by having this public spectacle of a memorial service. They didn't have to drag all of this out.

I agree the taxpayers should not be paying for this. I think it's time for the NAACP and big Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and all those Black Award shows to step up and show just how much they REALLY loved the "King Of Pop" The Black man married 2 white women and has 1/2 white kids. He was everyones entertainer not just the black people. What really happened behind closed doors only him the kids and God knows. And I just imagine him and God are having a talk about that right now. Only God can be the real judge. I have mixed feelings here on one hand he was ONE of our great entertainers and deserves to be remembered but on the other hand he was in all kinds of trouble with kids and money that his family and we are left to deal with.And to keep bringing up the BLACK thing is a really big turn off for all of us, we ALL (all colors) helped him make his money. Jackson isolated his victims. He preyed upon young boys, some who had cancer. He set his house up like an amusement park to lure children. He even used alcohol to break their defenses down. Court documentation shows that witnesses testified that JAckson gave children wine, callilng it "Jesus Juice". Why was he giving 10 year olds wine????

What? Michael Jackson was BLACK! Al (SHUTYOURMOUTH) Sharpton have you looked at this guy?? He bleached his skin so he wouldn't look like you. He had so many nose surgeries the tip fell off. Do you really think this was a proud black man or was he really- a strange little freaky guy who dug small boys. Not small children- just boys. If you didn't have a childhood and want to remain close to children then you have ALL children around you. Not just little boys of a certain age. If you want people to respect you and take you serious as an artist and ICON- then take off the make-up and stop wearing veils over your face. How can anyone look at Michael Jackson honestly and not see a disturb person. Music was great- but I still think the PERSON is what we honor and I don't see a man that is worthy.

I think the Jackson family should pay for what Los Angeles has to spend for security and other expenses. If it was one of us and we wanted a big funeral our families would have to pay for it. The Jackson family are certainly wealthy enough to cover the expenses. I am sure that these supposedly die hard fans of Michael will be dumb enough to contribute money to the memorial. If anyone does that they do need some mental help.....The Jackson won't be there to help pay for your funeral expenses......Why should Los Angeles pay for it.....

You would think those that have profited from Jackson, such as several major record industry execs, AND his family, would happily shell out some money. Lots of fans loved his music, true, but PAID for every opportunity they had to listen to it whether it was at a concert, or on a CD or record- so why should the public have to pay yet again. It should be written into recording contracts that the industry should cover costs that exceed reasonable and customary, should the entertainer's death occur while they were still playing music for profit, If not, the family should pay- they were responsible for Michael's entry into the entertainment business. WHY should the city have to absorb these costs- it should be illegal.

I hope Ms. Perry is not going to hold her breath until the Jackson family pays for anything having to do with this memorial service. But, it is so typically California...the state is broke, LA is broke, but they are going to have to spend about 2 million on this service...this is the kind of thing that put the state where it is financially.

Is anyone taking into account any money the city will make off the 9,000 plus people who will be flooding the city for this event? Agree or not, this man did make a HUGE contribution to the music industry and culture, HAVE SOME DECENCY AND RESPECT FOR THAT ALONE. Pedafile? I'm not 100% sold on that, I truly think this man's "reality" was about that of a 10 or 15 year old, creepy to most but not sure his intentions were "sick" more than they were just immature, keep in mind what kind of reality this man was raised in.
