Man is killing man in many ways. And one of the most profound ways he is doing it is by his waste, and how he is dumping it into Mother Ocean. I started surfing of the California coast in 1960. Surfing then consisted of encounters with jellyfish, sand sharks, dolphins and an occasional whale. Surfing cessions now involve plastic bags, styrofoam cups and soar throats. Mother Ocean doesn't deserve to be treated this way. Bureaucray will do nothing about saving her. It is up to you. Think about this, is it worth saving?
Im with you american, im so sick of this liberal bulls.h.i.t. i cant see straight.
The US Congress, whether the dreaded Liberals or the Fun-Loving Conservative Repubs, can't even solve the crime in one major US city .... let alone the larger issues that are part of NATURE.
It's time we reduced the national deficit ... could we at least TRY to do that???? Mr Bush was right ... GIVE TAX BREAKS TO THE WEALTHY AND BANKRUPT THE REST OF AMERICA. Now, THAT'S a prescription the Health Industry can embrace!
I live in Seattle and I still can't believe that our idiotic politicians are trying to save "mother earth" before saving our bummed up economy. Hello? Anyone home? It'd be nice if you could first save our financial sector before protecting the fish.
Democrats are in the majority & hold the presidency.
If they really believed in global warming & the environment they would:
Stop sending people back into New Orleans to die.
Reduce the speed limit to the max engine efficiency speed of 55.
Enforce laws to stop farmers from allowing fertilizer run off
Stop agriculture subsides of the inefficiently grown crops like corn.
Eliminate federally subsidized flood insurance...move people back away from shores.
Great, now Oblama and liberal crew want to reign over all the waters of the earth.
Ya know I'm sure that there is some truth to this artical but my gosh at this point I wouldn't trust this administration to protect a sand box.
I watched a PBS special the other day and it said that Africa was once a thriving jungle of sorts and has slowly turned into a desert over millions of years. How come someone didn't cry global warming and tax all the apes 250,000 years ago???
Maybe Africa would still be a lush jungle if only we had politicians and environmentalist a million years ago...
The ONE common denominator to to most of world's problems -- environmental, economic, governmental, social, etc -- is human overpopulation.
6,700,000,000 (six point seven BILLION) people now inhabit the earth. That's double from just 39 years ago (1970).
We're talking BILLIONS of humans, not thousands, tens of thousands, or millions. It's BILLIONS!
The human population took "from the beginning of time" until 1830 (just 179 years ago) to reach one Billion.
Within 41 years from now (2050) the population will add another 3 Billion humans, reaching 9.8 Billion. And by 2100, another 1.6 Billion, to have a world population of 11.4 BILLION .
The solution is simple -- make conscious decisions to limit family size to less than 2 children per woman. Have children later in life. Educate others.
You think things are messed up now? What until another 3 to 5 BILLION humans are added to this rock floating in space! You ain't seen nothing yet.
NOAA needs to be scrapped and tossed aside. Jane Lubchenco is an Environmental Defense plant who has already gifted commercial fishing interests 51% of the total Red Snapper catch in Us waters while the recreational fishermen have been left out to dry. NOAA and the NMFS have been driven by radical environmental groups funded by the Pew Trust, these pinheads have an agenda and allow their misguided emotions to influence the outcome of almost everythng having to do with the oceans. Recreational fishermen are by far traditionally the best stewards of our oceans but have been pushed aside by those who seek to make our seas one big petting zoo and gift commercial interests an unlimited bounty from the sea. It is high time to work together to allow FAIR and practical use of our oceans by all user groups. There is a battle raging for our oceans and NOAA will not solve the problem. http://www.gloucestertimes.com/punews/local_stor

People need to get wise to the fact that groups like Environmental Defense, The Ocean Conservancy ect., are all in it for the money...bad fishing is big business. They run around screaming "the sky is falling" in order to rake in more money. They are a buch of Pew Trust funded dummies with crappy degrees, so they either work for a state agency making squat or they work doing well funded studies for the far left liberal "environmental" groups...and you can guess how the "studies" turn out. Peta has a website to indoctrinate the young into believing that daddy is evil for fishing cause the fihies feel pain...frigging idiots! http://www.fishinghurts.com/
So get wise people and stop buying into the BS, these groups are running NOAA and NMFS, Lubchenco is an Environmental Defense robot appointed to a job way above her rank...she needs to be yanked ASAP...60 million American, Taxpaying anglers are pissed!
America can get of of OPEC owned oil, I would love to drive an electric car...Most of our travel is mostly around town anyway...Oil is nasty filthy poison.
The problem never has, and never will be climate change or oil. The problem has been the absolutely uncontrolled growth in global population. Many thanks China, India and Mexico. Freedom dictates free choices based on responsibility. However China and India push their populations to reproduce with no accountability. Their is never a mention of social or global responsibility. Mexico urges their population to reproduce (thanks to the Catholic church) to reclaim the southwest. Don't believe me? Read the La Raza web site! Start controlling population growth through responsible reproduction! And NO, I am not talking about abortion or forced abortion. I am talking about repsonsibility.
The oceans have to be cleaned up, and the Plastic re-claimed and recycled. Or it's floating mass collected melted for creating New energy... The makers of the different kinds of plastic that end up in ocean have to pay for cleaning it up !..Like other hazards like asbestos damage. Every countries plastic factories involved needs to help pay for clean up... ( Team Planet )
It makes more sense to clean this up than to waste time on Cap and Trade. This is obvious physical pollution. Cap and trade wastes money on arguable concepts which institues control on the public by the government with excessive taxes and regulation.
This is news? The damn politicians of both parties have been ignoring these issue for decades! Trust me - Mother Nature is going to have the last laugh and we won't be laughing with her!
Doesn't the Bible say something to the effect that the oceans and the seas will die in the end times?
TOO BAD ALL THE REPUBLICANS COULDN'T BE SWEPT AWAY INTO THE OCEAN!! THESE GREEDY, WHINY SCUMBAGS ARE USELESS IN THEIR JOBS, DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE AND WILL CERTAINLY GET THEIRS!! GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY AND THESE PEOPLE ARE THE UGLIEST AND MOST HATEFUL AND DESPICABLE PEOPLE EVER CREATED. DEVILS WORK AT IT'S BEST!!
oh f*** off the oceans are not ill only the uneducated welfare bums ie democrats believe that propaganda
We need to pay far more attention to what we are doing to the oceans than chasing the chimera of so-called man made global warming. Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. It is a naturally occurring trace gas in the atmosphere, of which only about 15% is due to man. But the obvious damage to our oceans, particularly from fertilizer run off, and all the waste and trash dumped by India and China should be sending warning signals to all the world. We need to take better care of our world. So far, it is the only one we have.
This is all BS! It's just another scam by the enviromentalists so that they can ram this Climate Control Bill down our throats! They and Allah Obama are dirty dirty dirty!!!!!
Some day a lot of people here will be forced to look their grandchildren & great grandchildren in the eye and explain WHY we waited, we we took NO action, why our planet became so f--ed up and why their standard of living (across this planet) is less then our's was. We have choices. They will not.
If you have children, I would think so much of this would be a no-brainer. But the same generation that can kick the can down the yrs on spending can also delay any handle on global warming, pollution & overpopulation.
A finite resource ( the Earth) cannot have infinite demands (growing population, food production, overcrowding, energy demands) placed upon it.
Something's gotta give. Have no fear, the planet will survive. Man, probably. Civilization , western civilization, not likely.
SOunds like more beauracrats, more taxation, less accomplished.
Business as usual
WHATS WRONG WITH ALL YOU RIGHT WINGERS?
Just about every country in the world is on board with the drive to stop polluting our planet. 85% of Americans are all doing things differently to try to reverse destruction from pollution. Then there is the little 15%minority group who deem themselves, "conservatives", who live here in OUR country. Now this little peon group claims that all the obvious signs of environmental degradation are occurring naturally. Wow, overnight, these experts on health care, have just become environmental scientists! It amazes me as to how smart they all claim to be, what I cant figure out is why is their 15% number dropping every time they open their mouths?
The REAL problem?
Too many f***ing people, f***ing, making little f***ers!
Human OVERPOPULATION
Are the oceans covered under O'Bama's healthcare dictate? If not, I think they should; let's just continue to shop until our country drops!
Now that health care has been taken care of we are ready for the next step. Food and shelter for all is also needed plus the environment. With an 80% income tax and more nationalization of companies it can be pulled off.
i would be content to go back to hunter gatherer days... i have a successful garden and i am an avid hunter/fishermen... i wonder how many ppl in the u.s. could survive in the wilderness... probably not many and those that can know how to appreciate mother earth, by not overusing her resources
