"The size of a Mack truck" This story and its reporter are pathetic.

You guys "blow" everything out of proportion. That .50 caliber pistol is not half as powerful as a regular old "run-of-the-mill" 12 gauge shotgun. It would be nice if you would investigate something before you put it on the internet. Who ever made that "Mack truck" comment was full of BS.

DEA should have been focusing on Meth all along.......instead they seem more worried about plants growing. "I CAN NOT CAUTION ALL , BUT STILL CAN WARN A FEW!!"

Nice to see the DEA actually getting rid of drugs for once, instead of worrying about what some folks are gardening.

Actually the 50 cal WOULD blow a whole thrrough you like a mack truck. Ive seen a 50 cal rifle blow someones upper torso into pieces so tell me that a handgun at close range wouldn't do the same thing... And remember something, your little 12 gauge shotgun shoots tiny ball bearings.. And as the distance between the shooter and target increase the lethal effect diminish to almost a scratch!! good job... OUT!!!

Great job DEA!!!!! That's what I'm talking about. Bust the drug dealers and shoot and kill, the gangbangers. Get my point?? It doesn't matter what kind of weapons these people have , or how big a hole they will blow in someone's head. Just pull the trigger and eleminate all, drug-heads and gangbangers. Bury these bastards and clean up the streets of the USA, before those like myself, decide to go hunting these jerks.

"In addition to the 31 people arrested in the drug case, an undisclosed number were detained for potential immigration violations", Winchell said. Could have had that as the only line in the article...

"unusually powerful weaponry" LOL !!!!!

Agenda much there news media!

AK-47 = my Remington 7400 in 30-06.... I take that back, my Remington is actually much more powerful.

Good thing the media panders to those that know little about firearms &/or ballistics.

DEA, These dealers must remember to cut in the U.S. Government.
They cannot tolerate any competition.

They take over everything else, Las Vegas, auto manufacturing, Banks, Health care.

Bust the illegal Federal Reserve Bank.
Counterfeiters at thier finest. I.R.S. Wall Street, OPEC. Damn.

Goldman Sachs and our intrepid drug fighting government can crash the price of critical commodities anytime they want - destroying participants in those markets.

You would think they could do the same thing with drugs.

Decriminalize. Crash the price. Suck the life and power from organized drug syndicates and the money corruption it promotes.

"War on Drugs" my ass.

Drug bust here. Drug bust there. All just a show.

Robert J and mccombs195 guess you have never seen the results of what a .50 cal can do. I have. As a combat vet ( Iraq, Lebanon and other locals) I can tell you in great detail of what a .50 cal can do to the human body.

As per this "Drug War", when are we ever going to learn, that you mush fight fire with fire. The only thing these animals understand is fear and firepower. You don't go in with the ideal of using handcuffs, you go in with bodybags.

This story like almost any where there is a crime committed and weapons are found is distorted. This was written for consumption by someone living in New York who probably have never been around weapons in their lives except when they have been robbed by some druggie with a Saturday night special. They served 35 search warrants
and 22 guns were found and they make it sound like they finally found Sadam's weapons of mass destruction. The assault weapon found was not an assualt weapons. An assualt rifle is capable of multipule rounds.
This was a legal, one pull one shot rifle. They are trying to build hyeteria against gun rights in this story. You could raid 35 homes at random in Texas and come up with a better arsenal of guns than this. Those guns would almost certinely belong to law abiding citizens who
have never committed a crime. this is alarmist fantasy.

b******* ! How a round effects the target depends on whether its a "full metal jacket," or a "soft-nosed bullet." Most 50 Cals "full metal jacket," will go straight through a target. A soft-nosed 45 slug will expand and make one hell of a hole. I like a 50 Cal for distance, but I love an 8MM Beretta for shooting scumbags. They just go OOHHHH!!!!!!

They only caught them with a quarter of a pound of cocaine. Obviously they got there too late. No wonder they haven't seen a reduction in the number of drug-related crimes.

Was this a drug bust or a .50 Cal Desert Eagle bust?

"Well, we found several thousand pounds of meth and heroin, but the real victory was getting this one .50 cal pistol off the streets. It can blow a hole the size of a truck stop through someone!"

Give me a freakin' break. The .50 pistol is a novelty/collector's piece, not the most tactically practical weapon on the planet.

A desert eagle is accurate up to maybe 50 ft. an ak 47 is not accurate at all. My mi carbine is a much more effective weapon. It is also a wonder hunting rifle. You can take down a deer at 200 yards easy. none of the so called high powered and semi automatic are as good as my rifle, Keep beating on the sheeple keep trying to fill their heads with bull sh!t. then only will the criminals have any kind of gun. You idiot

The hole from a Dessert Eagle bullet is the size of a quarter. Sensationalism fuels fear. The drug bust is a very small percentage of the overall number of crime rings, let alone small-time chemists, that produce methamphetamine. Drug sales do not produce crime. It is the users who do not have the money to buy drugs, that commit crimes to maintain their addiction. Yes, the drug is wrong, bad, unhealthy, and ruinous to people. Thinking a so-called, "major operation," does not stop the rest from the horrid practice of use.

Just once, I'd like to see a reporter with factual knowledge of the subject matter write and article. A 50 cal. pistol will not blow a "hole the size of a Mack truck" in a person. If fact it make a hole .05 inch larger than a 45 cal piston. And the idiot that posted that he's seen somebody blown apart by a 50 cal rifle obviously doesn't know the difference between the two. A .50 cal rilfe is a serious weapon, it's also 5 feet long and weighs 35 lbs. Try sticking that in you pants! Newflash to the Associated Press: Hire reporters who know how to check facts and not report overblown sensationalism, morons.

This pathetic article reminds me of the Tender stoaking the fire for the engine. The Stoaker being the ones that want to infringe on 2'nd Ammendmant RIGHTS! The ballistic distortion is ridiculous just as some Hollywood action films are. Using Mexico's lack of self discipline and enforcement to reinforce goverment control. This Tea Bag is for you Washington DC.

Where does this idiot get off with the remark "a hole the size of a Mack truck".? 50 cal. handguns have been around for a while and are usually revolvers but there are a couple of SEMI-automatics out there. And the AK-47 TYPE assault rifle? It could have been a 22 cal. rifle with an AR kit added to it to 'pimp' it out just like some people do their cars. It's for looks and it's still SEMI-automatic. What a bunch of B.S.!! This is just more media fodder for Obama's anti-gunners! Print the facts not the farce!!

When I saw "powerful weaponry" I was thinking they had found them with RPG's, SAW's, 50 cal machine guns, atleast a large cache of automatic weapons. Then when I read the story its typical media crap. Trying to make all guns look "evil". Guns are not evil they are a tool. Evil is what is at the other end. If good folks aren't allowed to have guns, then who's that leave at the other end of them?

Blowing a hole the size of a Mack truck? I don't think so. They probably believe the bullet would knock you off your feet too, as in the Hollywood movies, although that would violate the laws of physics.

Criminals always have the best weapons. Every gun control measure only affects the honest citizen.
If they cannot get guns from one source (stealing from honest citizens) they will get them from another source (black market imports from Pakistan)
We outlawed drugs, but drug addicts have no problem getting drugs, even in prison.
I live in the 5th most violent city in the nation, yet I'm not allowed to protect myself or my family. Yet the criminals carry guns, all the time every time,
Prison time is short and within an hour of being on the streets, they are armed.

A lady serving in the Army in Iraq had her son who was a good boy, an excellent student, and not a member of a gang killed by a gang member released from Jail in LA the day before.
