Let me get this straight. He is 45, she is (or was) 22... they met about 3 years ago on the internet... she was 19, he was 42. Besides that being gross and him old enough to be her father, had they ever met in person? And what do you THINK she is trying to accomplish by marrying an American man who is obviously too old for her... so she won't need a visa?
Why does anybody really need to know this. And what is proposal rock or whatever. The whole deal sounds weird to me.
What the Hell is a 45 year old man (as myself) doing dating a 22 year-old from ANY COUNTRY? The saddest part is that she was only 18 years old in 2005 (if of course she was telling the truth), this PERV. had NO RIGHT being with this young kid!
My deepest sympathy to the family, but I could only imagine the PAIN of a sad life that she would have endured with that FREAK. This definitely sounds like a case for the cops, at least he should be investigated for endangerment of a child, based on the year 2005.--TOO FISHY!!
come on man this is murder he pushed her after she rejected his proposal.. 45 22 phillipines, 2005 when she was 18 or 19 how can an 18-19 year old afford to fly from the phillipines to oregon for them to be dating 3-4 years .... 3 foot wave with 10 feet or more of advance notice?? 4-11- 93 lbs maybe he could only afford his dsl fees and her flights and couldnt feed her when she got here! hahaha.. desperate guy shoved her off the cliff but grabbed the ring from her before she threw it in the ocean!!!
Honestly it does sound a bit suspicious. Hes older, knows the area & she doesn't have family in the country to push the issue.
okay that's a bit extreme but there really is no info on when and how they saw each other. and he obvs paid FOR her to come over...
The mail order bride business still thrives on Philippine and other Asian women. The poverty level in some countries causes many young women to see this as their only way out.
I'm very sorry for the young lady's family.
Disturbing to see that mail order brides are still entering the USA on the arms of elderly and over the hill Caucasian men preying on them for a little bit of arm candy as well as for s** slaves and indentured servants. Good riddance, because we know that he's probably back on a plane to the Philippines or Far East in search of his next victim.
I guess I give him the benefit of the doubt. I can't see how he would have anything to gain by engaging in a murder or foul play. A three-foot wave, as a surfer knows, is actually pretty big. The age difference was a lot but she wasn't 16 or 17, she was 21, as I recall.
So, is the wedding off then?
What I find hilarious is that a rich guy or a celebrity can hang with a chick young enough to be his daughter or granddaughter and it's cool.
Now if a regular dude does the same thing he's a sick old pervert! Hugh Hefner was going out with two, yes TWO chicks of about 19 or 20 recently. They were living with him at his mansion! And Hefner's like 80 years old! But if a 45 year old guy goes with a 22 year old chick, suddenly he's "elderly and over the hill"!
Well I too thought it sounded fishy at first. But somebody has to believe it could have been an accident, so I guess until proven guilty I will believe this man is innocent.

While the mail order bride business is creepy in many areas of the world especially is SouthEast Asia and India it is common practice. In fact they do not see it as creepy since they often bethroth their own children at birth. Also, a three foot wave can knock you on your butt no matter your size if you don't see it coming.
You are all quite sick and self absorbed to not even give either of them the benefit of doubt, that perhaps they were in love, legally of age, able to marry. Ages a bit of a spread, as far as western customs, yes, but not a right to hang them post mortem on the net. DO ANY OF YOU KNOW THEM? Someone has died here, tragically, a human being has lost her life, probably in a romantic moment. The police evidently have no impression of foul play, so, give it a rest, show some empathy if you know how. Everything in perspective, fairly.

the power of a 3-4 wave receeding is more than enough power to sweep a 93lbs person off some slippery rocks and into a sea. Not to mention it's very cold water. I'm 6'3", 190 and have had a 4ft wave draw back and knock me on my butt. The force is strong. WTF does age difference have to do with anything? Who cares about that.
Things could have happened exactly as they are portrayed to have happened. People with vast age differences fall in love all the time. Who cares about age? They were both adults. Very sad indeed that what is to be a joyous occasion turns heartwrenching.

This is so simple and stupid it must be true. He likely did not kill her, they were just getting started.
Oh,yea..those of you worrying about the poor Philipino (or enter other foreigner) girls...don't fret. After they are married a few years and learn what a looser they are with, they usually start sleeping around on their "husband" and then when he finds out, they take him for half his stuff..so revenge is served! I work at a hospital and have seen that scenario a hundred times. That's why they date older guys who are financially set already.

Being a southern gentleman, your natural instinct would not to be to turn into the wave but to grab the 4'11" 93 pound young lady. Even today I, being 48, would grab my wife's hand to help sturdy her. No gentleman would put himself first over any lady or child. I believe he caused her demised but without a witness there is no way to prove it. In my opinion, why would a 22 year old want to marry someone twice her age, I think she probably said no, and, not knowing this to be fact, after he paid all this money out to bring her to the US, it most likely led to her death. Simple observation.
This guy was being truly romantic. There are all kind of quicky chapels over there in Bangkok and the Phillipines that cater to men coming over to look for "mail order brides." He was taking her to a romantic spot with a ring in his pocket. I think he must be totally torn up right now and can just hope he doesn't read these posts...or most of them.
