You know what people need to quit being so superficial. Taller people are NOT smarter...I am 5' 1", left-handed, and a straight "A" student. This crap is just a bunch of BS. So get your statistics right...and quit generalizing folks...Media, get your head right.

It's doesn't take smarts to toss a ball through a hoop...They are saying tall people are smarter...nonsense. I am a nurse and taller people have shorter life spans than shorter people because the heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump the blood through the body....plus blood contains oxygen, which is vital for surival, and if your taller it takes the oxygen more time to reach the brain, the oxygen also stimlates thinking...so where these morons get their statistics are beyond me.

You are very right.Just because there are taller people,it does not mean that they are smarter too.There are many very smart short people also.I am 5.2.and very good student also.Height is not deciding if you are smart or stupid.Short people can make much more that tall people,sometimes.

Some taller individuals tend to stumble over anything and anybody below their waist line. Some times they can't even hear good because they are too focused on what is going on up there in the air! It is true that taller makes a statement but shorter does too I know based on my own experience.

I have to agree i think taller people do make more money, when i am looking to hire someone i always tend to hire someone around 5' 8", or 6 foot....Taller people tend to look more intelligent and powerful in my view....I am also only 5'2" it was always hard for me to find a good job....

As an advocate for short people, I say They suck ! I work hard for my pennies and they snatch the dollars ! Isn't anything worthwhile happening for YAHOO to report !?

It's not just money, it's everything!! Ok i'm 5'11 and I have nothing to worry about,but I really feel sorry for short men. They can't get women, they can't find a true love in their life and most of them end up alone and die alone, their chances of getting a good job are very slim, they are not taken seriously by anybody, they get bullied in schools, they often get ridiculed by everybody: by the media, by their friends and even by their own siblings! Short women have nothing to worry about though, most men like short chicks.
It's hard outta there for a shot man!!

It is true that some people like taller employees and pay them more, i have seen it in the buisness, I think its more that they like to look up at someone taller, and they listen more and speak less when they are being spoken to, making the taller person look and sound more inpressive, Nature just like if you are fat and smart most people will over look you based on the fat. Short people have it the same way just as women have had to make it , only if thats the nature of the boss i say tall boss no problem. Short Boss no problem Women Boss no problem, but check how they hire people, they want to hire people they can control thats nature.

It is an interesting study. I hope that it was well done or might it be some propaganda to mellow the stature of the short men that ruled the world in politics/history and Sport to name a few feats. Good luck with that study.

mark, I totally agree with you! You know what's even worse? The society always presume that short men have no feelings! It's ok to make fun of them, hurt their feelings, reject them emotionally, socially and physically when it's not their fault they're short and there is NOTHING they can do about it, but in the meantime we flip out if someone makes a bad comment against big women! Everybody will then call them mean for being insensitive towards their feelings!!

What the author said about presidents heights cannot be taken seriously. FDR one of the most popular presidents (even though he was an anti-Semite) was always in a wheelchair or photographed sitting in a chair. If Americans were open enough to accept a handicapped president even back then, I don't think they'd have a problem with a short president. Ross Perot was very short & he made a good run for the presidency.

If taller people earn more, it's not because they exude more leadership skills (maybe they are more confident) but it's more because people admire & often envy taller height.

Sadly, it is true that people think tall people are smarter and take them more seriously than short people. Even women. I am five feet tall, and when I was out in the work force people treated me like I was a little girl in my mom's business suit. I had to prove how smart I was and what a good job I could do. Only then did they take me seriously.

But still, nearly every time I met a new person on the job, he or she would assume that because I was short, I was some little cutsie intern type, not to be taken seriously. Not everyone is that way, but most people are not even concious that they judge so much by appearance.

Now I am working from a home office using computer and phone, and everyone thinks I am so smart, in part (I am certain) because they cannot see how short I am.

Damn! So that's why I can't get off the dole. I'm only five feet. I guess its back to picking fruit.

Being a 5'8" white woman can be difficult too. I am usually the tallest female at a job and sometimes tower over the men as well. I have always disliked being tall and furthermore, finding a "tall" man is also difficult as they all seem to want the short girls. So maybe we should get a little something extra on our paychecks. :)
