I recently had a "Panel Interview" in front of four HR managers. I was given stares, sidelong looks and asked questions that had nothing to do with the job. I felt nervous and uncomfortable. I tried to smile and be pleasant, but one actually laughed at me regarding my past job as a paralegal. Why are HR personnel so intimidating? I was relieved when I received the rejection email. I hate being made to feel stupid. It's hard enough to find a job when you're 50 and no one wants to pay for your experience.

Playing with your jewelry is a sign of flirting? If the person rips off there wedding ring maybe, but normally playing with our jewelry means your nervous.

Another Dumb Article.
I would not want to work anywhere where this BS is how they do business.
Around here, if you are drug free, and you have experience with the programs we work with, & you know what you're doing & you do it well,
......you can tilt your head, fold your hands and cross your legs all you want. We don't hire actors. What a bunch of nonsense.
If anyone in our HR made a decision as to why or why not hire someone based on this crap....they'd be outta here.

What a bunch of drivel. No wonder the workforce is suffering now. People will take this advice and be so worried that they are sending the "wrong signal" that they will miss important points or be unable to answer questions because they were "mirroring". Real employers, and I mean the ones that most of us work for, expect you to meet or exceed goals, show up on time and prepared for meetings. My boss used to say I could show up in my underwear and pick my nose all day as long as I made my numbers did my job and made him look good.

Real life meetings require you to pay attention and present whatever it is you were supposed to present in an efficient manner. It does not matter if you sit stand or spin in place good work means good results. The people who fall for this type of crap are the ones that are spending way to much time practicing working when they could be ummmm.... WORKING.

What a load of baloney.First off HR is a two year degree
I'm told. For some schlepp to be able to make life-altering
decisions on such flimsy assumtions is just one reason this
country's is in the mess it is.

This is such b*******. I worked in call centers AND high end offices where people did this stuff ALL the time. If anyone was stupid enough to take things wrong, then it was on THEM, the stupid losers, not the person doing it. What a bunch of wasted space this article is. Let me blog for Yahoo. I've got tons of stuff to say better than this drivel.

It will not be long before one can be fired for breathing, or being able to see with his or her eyes, or hear with your ears, or just touch his or her own nose with their hand.

You know, I think the real problem here is that people are just way too damm critical and sensitive to such minute details. Similar to the trend to micro-manage employees as well.

THE RECENT SPATE OF ARTICLES ON YAHOO CONCERNING BODY LANGUAGE, CAREER ADVICE FOR MANAGERS, AND CO WORKER ATTITUDES; ALL FROM SELF PROFESSED CORPORATE CONSULTANTS UNDERSCORES HOW PETTY AND INSIGNIFICANT WE HAVE BECOME AS A SOCIETY. FOCUSING ON SUCH INCONSEQUENTIAL ISSUES INSTEAD OF A PERSON'S ABILITY HAS LED TO THE "DUMMING DOWN" OF OUR LEADERS AND SHALLOW HIRING PRACTICES IN OUR SOCIETY!

Sometimes twirling your hair is just that and with no hidden meaning. But for those of you who think body language is bunk, please keep thinking that. It will give me an edge on you. It takes a lot practice and time in understanding the person when using it. But when I do, it has helped me. keep reading your horoscopes instead.
