House passes health care bill on close vote (AP)

In a victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House narrowly passed landmark health care legislation Saturday night to expand coverage to tens of millions who lack it and place tough new restrictions on the insurance industry. » Full Story on Yahoo! Finance

yeah, lets make health insurance like auto insurance, but what will they do if you lapse on your health insurance, take away your social security card or send you straight to prison? Just wondering.

Passing a bill that was not even allowed to be read should be a crime itself. All of these protests were for nothing. These traitors are going to do whatever the hell they want to. They knew most americans were against this and passed it anyway. It won't end here. We'll all be paying out of our ass on this cap and trade garbage that I'm sure will be passed as well. Next, it will be our guns taken. Then it will be RFID chips keeping track of our every movement. This is not america anymore. It's just another s***** communist country. Turn your flags upside down. This nation is in distress.

Crazies are out in full force tonight.

Luckily they are only minorities in might.

They have lost but keep putting up a fight.

When leaving the RNC, please turn off the light.

WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR to have a president make a win for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE after enduring eight years of a bellicose, rogue president (Bush) whom 90% of the world detest and more than three quaters of Americans abhor – a deserter from the military and an alcoholic who will most likely someday be doing time in federal prison for his crimes. Eat your black hearts out, CONServatives and racists – YOU LOST AGAIN!

Drago - No - the protests weren't for nothing. They awakened the citizens and voters.

What will mean something is how we all vote in 2010 and 2012.

We each need to find out how our rep and senators voted and then vote accordingly.

Finally, after 8 years of what? NOTHING.....(NO jobs, NO housing, NO economy, NO positive image, NO healthcare, NO education) NO Nothing. Just like the Party of NO. Just cowboy style policies, corporate thievery and corrupt government. Finally, we now have a President FOR the people, BY the people and OF the people. This is A REAL government. Thank you so much, Mr Obama. God Bless You. Now, I ask that folks for progress of America join hands and pray to God that he keeps Obama safe to carry out the mission that he has began to return America to the GOOD path. Yes, folks. Some people can be dangerous.....

The passage of this in the House speaks of the continued support for health care reform by the electorate. If support would have eroded over the summer by the childish name calling going on by the rednecks there would have been more defections. Politicians know how to follow polling and something this historic, you better believe they were head counting all the way to the vote. The ironic part regarding the defections, is that the lone repub that crossed over has a better chance of being reelected by dem help in his distrcit than the defectors do by getting repub votes in theirs.

When they announced that anyone that did not vote for the health care bill would have to spend the night with Princess Nancy a loud moan went out and I knew our country was in big trouble.

Why is it that republicans believe that keeping the status quo equates to health care reform? Why do they expect people to believe that saying no to change is actual change?

But now the bill has to go through the senate, and surlely, there it will be squashed or the honest taxpaying people of the US will let their voices be heard or there will be hell to pay. Goodbye dems over the next few years, you have just signed your own pinkslips.

A great president is a president who identifies problems that need to be fixed, and fixes mindless of the critisism and approval rating drops because he knows it's the right thing to do for the country.
Once again this proves that Obama is not a status quo president who shys away from tackling hard issues. The health care bill was not an easy accomplishment. Millions of Americans will benefit from it for decates to come. Bravo to Mr. Obama and all those who voted to pass this bill.

Please tell me why you would oppose the following provisions in the heath care reform bill:

1. Creates a government-run plan, or "public option," to offer insurance coverage to compete with private sector insurance companies.

2. Sets up health insurance "exchanges," or marketplaces, where consumers can easily compare coverage and rates.

3. Ends blanket exemption for insurers from anti-trust laws.

4. Provides federal financial help for lower and middle income consumers so they can obtain coverage.

5. Bars insurers from denying or limiting coverage because of pre-existing conditions.

6. Bars insurers from imposing lifetime limits on coverage.

7. Expands Medicaid coverage to more people.

How are these provisions anything but beneficial to The Average Working American Family?

Won't an end to the blanket exemption for insurers from anti-trust laws create a a better deal for all Americans?

I've been studying every health care model in the world and every health care reform proposal since about 1993 as a nurse and this may be a good start but this package is way too Frankenstiened with big chunks of non-viable tissue to work. It's not going to work. Everyone in health care and the industry and politics knows that. I wonder what this half-step is actually all about. I was so hoping for that longshot that we would break free completely of the Ferengi's grip and move up into a clean new system on par with the rest of the world because this national and the world recessions is devastating USA workers and their families and without that higher quality health care system in our weakened state we could truly suffer more than rhetoric in the hard years coming up. I've seen the projections. We've got to get serious about this. No time anymore for slobberings and political gain. We The People deserve better..

Its alright, it will either get shotdown in the senate or declared unconstitutional by the courts.
No where does it say anywhere in the constitution that I have to pay for health insurance.
And that, my friends is where the courts will shoot this turd from the sky down.

Oh, dont get this turd confused with the requirement to buy auto insurance.
That is a state measure.
This turd of a bill is federal.
And the constitution is federal.
And no where in the constitution does it say that I have to buy insurance!

Do any of you pro-healthcare advocates really believe that its going to stop here at healthcare? These people in congress are hell bent on expanding their powers! Simple as that. They don’t give a rat’s ass about your health. Its all about their power and their legacy. And to top it off not one single member of the house has read the bill or even a portion of it. As for abortion and free health care for illegal aliens? Once it goes to committee behind closed doors, all bets are off! Abortion will be funded and paid by tax payers and illegals will be invading our country like we’ve never seen before. it’s a sad day in America. To all those whose congressman voted for this garbage, remember who they are come 2010 and 2012.
