AP sources: Obama wants Senate health bill quickly (AP)

Moving forcefully on his top domestic priority, President Barack Obama told a powerful Senate chairman on Monday he wants health care legislation ready in the Finance Committee by week's end, according to numerous Democratic officials. » Full Story on Yahoo! Finance

Of course he wants it quickly, everything he has pushed for has been for quick passages on matters that affect us all. If he would let people look at his proposals, and realize how they are going to affect them, they wouldn't allow these projects to go forward. He has screwed up everything has has touched. I want my change back.

Yeah well we can expect a huge failure with this change, he and all the politicians have and continue to receive millions. Obama raised 18.8 million from the insurance industry so he is bought and paid for.

As with all of Obama's sweeping socialist legislation, he would prefer that Congress would forget about reading the bill and just sign it. He has been pretty successful so far.

HURRY HURRY HURRY,
Sign on the line,
approve my bill just in time.
Before the public has time see,
of what is hidden in this decree.
I'll sneek in more taxes, I'll add on more laws,
don't tell them the lines will be long down the halls.
We'll demand that they use it, get rid of their choice,
and ignore their demands, we'll silence their voice.
To run this land with socialist command,
I must lower the boom I must lower my hand.
There is no other way to rule supreme,
so pass this law so I can be KING.

Why the hurry? I don't want this reform but if we must have it, take the time to look at it and do it the best way. Is it so necessary to pass something so quickly that problems are not found ahead of time and it hurts us later?

With as much careful deliberations, I'm sure the nationalized health care bill will be a solid and thoughtfull bill like the stimulus.

From a story written by a Canadian doctor:

If we measure a health-care system by how well it serves its sick citizens, American medicine excels. Five-year cancer survival rates bear this out. For leukemia, the American survival rate is almost 50 percent; the European rate is just 35 percent. Esophageal carcinoma: 12 percent in the United States, 6 percent in Europe. The survival rate for prostate cancer is 81.2 percent here, yet 61.7 percent in France and down to 44.3 percent in England—a striking variation.

In Great Britain, about 36,000 people have gone blind due to a shoddy health care system that wouldn’t pay for the drug Lucentis which treats macular degeneration.

Countries like Britain, Sweden, and Canada haven’t found a remarkable new way to deliver modern medicine; rather, their governments ration care, relegating patients to wait in pain and, in some cases, to die. Back in the 1990s, Canadian government planners pared back on physician supply in the name of cost control. Today, according to the national medical association, roughly one in six Canadians lacks a family doctor. Small towns hold lotteries, with the winners getting a trip to the GP’s office.

Looks like this is a failed socialistic system!

“If I were designing a system from scratch, I would probably go ahead with a single-payer system,” Obama said last October.

Single payer system. Hmm. The government is planning to undercut private insurers and run them out of business. Then we will be stuck with only one option -- bureaucrats in Washington who will decide whether or not you deserve treatment.

Watch out, old people. You're about to be thrown under Obama's bus.

The thing I don't like about this current healthcare debate is that there is no debate. Alot seems to be happening in Congress but NOTHING is happening in the public sphere! The ONLY kind of televised debate on the issue I've heard is those 30 second commercials with the scary music about how bad government health care is and how Obama wants to put a bureaucrat between you and your doctor... I think the media is largely to blame as it's like they don't want to waste the time and resources to explain all the different options to the American public.

As unfair and BIASED the debate was back in 1993, atleast there was some public debate! I guess the big media outlets just feel like the consensus is something needs to be done, but they don't really care what!

Hurry , Hurry , Hurry before the people wake up and figure out what a socialist I really am . Don't read the bill , don't gather input form your constituents , don't have healthy debate , don't investigate the shortcomings of the Canadian and Euorpean failures in health care , don't tell everyone over sixty they will die under mny pkan if they get sick because as Tom Daschale has declared " they should be willing to go to save the resources for the younger people ."

Rise up America . It is time to take to the streets !!!!!!!

With absolutely no consideration for where this country is, where it is going or any concern for what may be going on globally, this administration has the sole objective of imposing its agenda upon us with no regard for the outcome. He told you he was going to be a tax and spend liberal and you folks weren't smart enough to figure it out. Now you must defend him at all costs. I hope the midterms will stop his agenda.

He better do it quick; in 2010 he will lose his majority in the Congress and in 2012 he will be unemployed. Just like all the other Dems before him, it will take a while to recover from the same old tax/spend with the same old miserable results.

when congress, the president and ALL federal workers have the "Public" option as their only option for their "sick care" program then I might think of it. One congressman is proposing that congress, the president and federal employees won't have this option for 5 years. So they can keep their wonderful healthcare plan, but the rest of use will be dropped from our employers onto this national system.

Where are the savings going to come from? Let see, reducing nurses, lab techs pay would be one way to do that. All those women nurses who will be making less money because of Obama. Obama taking away even more nice paying middle class jobs.

Sounds a whole lot like "Animal Farm" to me

This new health care system will cost us taxpayers over $1 TRILLION. Other independent estimates place the cost at closer to $4 trillion.

It will force 23 million Americans to give up the private health care they currently have.

17% of the gross domestic product (GDP) is health care and related services. Obama wants to seize control of it, just as he took over the auto industry, insurance giant AIG, banks, etc.

The bottom line is, Obama doesn't care about people without health care. It's just a front for him to grab another huge piece of the private sector.

Obama would not have to undercut the private sector, if the private sector was actually providing for people fairly. Just because you are making enough to support your family's healthcare and can afford to have the internet to write selfish opinions that you generalize to everyone, that does not mean that everyone in America can.

Also, you do not think it is wrong to make a profit off of people's suffering and disease? Do you not think that would support policy that keeps us sick and feeding the infinitly hungry CEO's of these companies? Morally ask yourself, do you think a single mother working at minimum wage should be encouraged by her employer to seek out government assistance to use your tax dollars instead of their profits?

And to the "socialist" comments, how many of you are firemen, policemen, postal workers, etc? If not, do you like those services to be available where you live? THEN YOU ARE USING SOCIALIST PROGRAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jeez

HEY FELLOW AMERICANS,
DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE WE ARE EXPERIENCING CLEARITY AND TRANSPARANCY WITH HUSSEIN IN THE WHITE HOUSE?
DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT TAX CHEATS AND RADICALS ARE HONEST FOLKS?
ARE YOU BETTER OFF TODAY COMPARE TO A YEAR AGO?
DO YOU BELIEVE THIS HEALTH CARE PLAN IS EVERYTHING BUT A HEALTH PLAN FOR AMERICANS?
IT IS ALL A BUNCH OF LIES.
2010 LETS ELECT A NEW SET OF FOLKS IN CONGRESS
2012 LETS PUT A LEADER AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF FOR OUR NATION.

So ignorant Jason. If we lived in a eutopian society no one would make a dime and there would be no need for money. I am a doctor...is it wrong for me to make a paycheck? Should I work for free? Is it wrong for a tow truck company to work for profiit? Shouldn't they work for free since it is people's pain and frustration that they are profiting from?

Welcome back to the real world. Capitalism drives good products and excellent care. Socialized medicine...although generous and benevolent in theory, only breeds mediocrity and sub-par medical care.
