GOP unifies against any more stimulus spending (AP)

Republicans lined up Sunday in opposition to a second economic stimulus package, a rare demonstration of unity from an out-of-power political party in search of a rallying cry against President Barack Obama. » Full Story on Yahoo! Finance

Hope they stick to it... many millions of Americans have no clue about how much money the Obama administration is planning on spending. It will take 4 generations to pay for his imbecility!!!

Did they decide to "unify" over an issue that Obama isnt even pursuing?
I thought they were unifying against Sotomayer which wasnt too long after they rallied and unified against the first stimulus package under Obama but were ununified when it passed under Bush. But of course they did change after that to unify against the gitmo closing which was just before they unfied against pelosi but for Panetta until he said some stuff recently about Cheney and then they unified against Panetta and for the other CIA chief.
Wow they must be exhausted

No stimulus plan can work in 6 months especially since it took 30 years to get into this quagmire.

Why would the dem's want to actually spend money on the American people? Everyone knows that 60% of the original stimulus money wasn't 'stimulating' it was just pork for their cronies! The stimulus was a big farce! Just like giving GM 20 billion last December, why give them money we all knew they would file bankruptcy eventually, and they did just that!

Look first off, Obama said he wasn't going to add any more money to the stimulus. Secondly The banker bailout was a bill given by Bush and not the stimulus Thirdly Obama gave money to AIG which now the American people own 80% of some of the stuff was a little dirty especially with Gethiner at the wheel for that. Fourthly The Stimulus is a two year plain as Obama Said at the beginning of the stimulus not a quick fix. Finally this all happen because of the failed polices of Gorge W. Bush who was sleeping during his whole presidency as Dick Cheney ran this country into the ground

Need help understanding the current rate of federal spending? Watch the following. Do you know what would happen if you spent your paycheck like this? Sure you do...you would end up on the food line waiting for a stimulus check.

Obama said, "Stimulus is working just as planned"..... then he just admitted he knew it was sh*t and nothing but pork... the stimulus was projected with unemployment reaching 8.5 percent. Unemployment reached just under 10 percent in June. He's a real mathematician this guy..... The only thing he's good at besides spending and taxing, is his CONSTANT campaigning. Come on 2010! We need a balance of power.

Let me be clear. It was annoucned that Obama will veto it. He said no. Its was on the news and right here on yahoobuzz. He will veto it. No way will he do it so soon. And Bush gave out 2. In 3yrs. I got more money from Bush than I did Obama. Really. We just recieved our checks last month. You got yours in your paycheck this yr by the tax cuts. And people who are retired got a check. When Bush did it everyone got a check.

The Obama administration has been making an aggressive push to explain the realities of the $787 billion stimulus package, in the face of aggressive Republican misinformation. Vice President Biden, for example, traveled to Ohio yesterday, forcefully backing the recovery bill and asking for patience from the American public. "Remember, we're only 140 days into this deal. It's supposed to take 18 months," he said. Only $60 billion of $175 billion allocated to federal agencies so far has been paid out. ," he told ABC News. "We needed a stimulus and we needed a substantial stimulus.

" Republicans, who overwhelmingly voted against the recovery act in Congress and have offered no new ideas, are now trying to sow public dissatisfaction. In fact, the "plans" that Republicans have been offering are largely the same ones that put the country into the current economic mess. To create confusion, the GOP has had to resort to sloppy attacks and inaccurate myths. A look at some of what the right wing is spinning:

Republicans need to stop crying and go back to the drawing board. Their tactics are failures and our nation is feeling the effects. They certainly have no right to tell anyone what to spend or where to spend it. Conservatives my ass.

Tell me how this past stimulus package was to help the economy? when ppl out of work needed to perhaps pay for a bill or two they were behind in? or items for their children for school? or buy some groceries? or gas for a vehicle so they can go to a job hunt? look at it realistically ....the amount given could not stimulate nothing except adding to the nations deficit. Another stimulus best be forgotten on. Just would like to know when jobs will be created...jobs would be the step for bringing back the economy.

VOTE THEM ALL OUT !!! They are playing "ping-pong" with us; they have been there 25-30 years and ALL of them contributed to our decline; if we send 150-200 of them packing in 2010, the rest will begin to listen to us. Frank and Dodd should be prosecuted !!!

This "Stimulus" has stimulated nothing, except the government.
No nation in history has spent it's way into prosperity.

Obama is spending money like we, the american people, can afford it. It's the american people themselves that need the stimulus money - then it would be circulated and stimulate the economy. If he is unable to spend our money responsibly he needs to go.

Less than 10% of the first one has been spent.....why the hell do we need another one?

Probably to pay more Obama supporters back!

Wow! This is AMAZING! Republicans are opposed to another stimulus, and President Obama doesn't want one either! As soon as the GOP realizes that there will be no second stimulus request coming from the White House, they'll be screaming for one. Otherwise, they'll have nothing to complain about or vote "NO" on. Silly rabbits.

Obama already said he doesn't want another one. This is just another Flag-Waving event for the Republicans to look like their helping America in some way. Sorta like a last leg to stand on since they can't lean on anything positive that they've done in the last 8 years.

I hope their children don't grow up to be as hypocritical as their moral/gun/so-called prolife, flag-waving leaders are.

Sadly, I saw a young lad on Fox News the other day, yelling a bunch of republican propoganda, so I think that hope is lost

That is all we need. Flush more borrowed money down the toilet. As bad as the Bush spending was, and it was bad, Obama is exponentially worse. I did not like Bush but after seeing Obama in action I would take Bush back in a millisecond. And I voted for Obama. What a loser vote that turned out to be.

I deserve whatever critisism I get for that one.

Clearly Run, you haven't been paying attention to the news. Obama said that the "door is not closed to a second stimulus" and his advisers are calling for another one.

Do you pay taxes? With political rhetoric aside.....why would anyone support something that we won't be able to pay back? Unless of course, you don't pay any taxes anyway.

I think Jim explained the feeling well:
"Obama did infer he would not seek a second stimulus.

Obama also said he would preside over a "net cut" in spending.

Obama also said he would end the finger pointing in Washington and then in the same speech blamed Bush.

Obama also said "no lobbyists in my cabinet".

Obama also promised "fiscal responsibility".

Obama said in his first state of the Union speech we would be "forward looking" and then opened up witch hunts against Bush.

There are too many things Obama said that did not come to fruition so excuse me if I am skeptical he will not pursue another so-called stimulus boondoggle. "

With the massing of federal power in DC, the dims can radically change free enterprise into a socialistic collective defining how individuals can operate in the "free market"

this IS trickledown economics and that doesn't work...reagan found that out...bush found that out ,and now obama is running the same act (with a different name)...are these people cracked or what!...stick your hand in the fire once...it burns...so you stick your hand back in?????....there would have to be a lot of money involved for me to do that...and i'm sure there is...these people may be idiots...but they're also greedy fools...which allows for almost anything.
