Restaurants that get it right

People are eating out less, but these places have the right recipe for lean times. » Full Story on Y! Featured

Maybe lean tImes, but these chain restaurants are anything but lean. The only exception is Peets Coffee and Tea. The rest guarantee you will get a minimum of half your daily calorie requirements and fat in one meal.

I don't agree with your list. For starters, Panera. How can you say they are offering more for less when you are paying well over a dollar for a lousy bagel.

BWW used to have 25c wings on Tuesday at deep south TX. That was a good deal. If you can handle it, try their "blazing" sauce for wings. I personally prefer "hot" & "wild".

One of my ex-coworker once told that "BJ Sucks!" and my answer was "Isn't that it suppose to be?!". After a pause the group cracked in to laughter. We had our company dinner at BJ that night. Food was okay (but pricey) and everyone knocked themselves out with the beer sampling thing.

Stupid list.....

BTW, how many times will Yahoo! do all these lists? Always "cities with the lowest crime rates", "cities with the most graduates" or "cities where people tend to be obese". How about actual NEWS reporting for once Yahoo!?

Lets see I can get a double cheeseburger for $1.00 at Mcdonalds and Burger king or I can get a bland ass version of Italian food for $12.99 plus $2.00 for a drink at Olive Garden.... hmm I wonder what is a better deal???

Which do you think will shorten your life the fastest, High Plain?! Surely Peet's is the only provider on this list that actually serves quality products. I've been a Peet's customer since the early '80s, and they've never disappointed. I'm certain they will flourish everywhere they set up shop.

I think restaurants need to change what they have their wait staff say. I do not appreciate "How are we doing here?" and "Is everything okay?" Believe me babe if it wasn't I would let you know. Most often they interrupt me with my date to say something inane. Why not just simply show up once in awhile and walk slowly. I can stop you if I need a fork or napkin or the soup is cold. No waiter in Europe would ever act such ways. And leave my used plates alone until I'm gone!!!!!

Go to basic. Prepare your food at home. You control what you want to eat and how much you want to spend. Regardless, the cost will be about 1/3 than you would have spend at the restaurants. Most markets sell food with little preparation. Best of all, you can hit the bed when you get sleepy after meals.

PF Chang restaurant has always and will always be my fav when it comes to quality of food, service and prices and above all cleanliness. I love their Shrimp w/Lobster sauce. It cost about $7.00 for lunch Special. It is great and the serving is a full plate. Also, try their other lunch special all under $10.00. If you want wine, then, that is extra. Houston's Restaurant is so outrageously over priced and the food is not that great either.

Haven't eaten out in a long time. Eat at home, much cheaper and the meals are hot. If I had the money, I would eat out a little more.

High Plain: you forgot to add 20% tips which will round it up to $18 and after the meal you most probably still be hungry and thirsty (coz you could not take the refill out). :-)

Hubby & I ate at BWW in Corpus Christi, TX and it was really bad! Overpriced, overcooked, and I've warned everyone I know to not go there. If you want great wings, service, and ambiance, go to Hooters.

I can't even relate to this one. The only resturaunts in our area are Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden and Olive Garden is the only decent one, but I wouldn't say the portions are huge, the free salad and bread sticks are meant to fill you up before the main course, so it looks like you are getting alot for your money. (use to work in food service, salad and bread are still cheap fillers) Texas Roadhouse needs to send cooks to Idaho to teach their cooks how to cook. Here their food is terrible. Eating at home is still the cheaper way to go and when you add a $5 to $19 movie from Wal-Mart....it's the perfect date night.

Hot spicey wings,a few cold beers and the man you love, makes for a great night. If you cant afford to eat out, then eat in.It is nice to get out and relax at a nice restaraunt once in a while but you really cant beat the feeling of you and your partner preparing a meal together.

my favorite place to eat is in the upper yukon, canada just before you get to alaska. it's called Skinny Dick's Come On Inn, great food, drink, atmosphere, and a free t-shirt that says skinny dick's on it.
