'Eradicate this font'

The typeface called "fun, silly, and lazy" has inspired a movement to ban it. » Full Story on Wall Street Journal

Seriously, why do they want to ban it? It's not like they can take it off Microsoft Word or something like that.

Someone has way too much time on their hands to have composed this article. Comic Sans is a great font for when you're making flyers, cards, etc. Of course I wouldn't use it in a resume or something like that. But it's fun to play around with & tweak with bold, itallic, etc. I doubt it'll get banned. It'll just become less & less common to see it being used. Kind of like what happened with Times New Roman, Courier & Courier New. People discovered Arial, Arial Bold, Tahoma & Verdana, which are better fonts for printing things with.

Find something else to do with your time. Why don't we ban people with bad handwriting?

With America leaning towards economic tragedy, the press is puttering with a font? I guess they have their priorities in correct order.

I don't comic sans should be used in resumes, research papers, etc. BUT I use it all the time for worksheets for elementary school because it is the only font I know of that makes a lowercase "a" like the way students learn to print a lowercase "a." I've seen young students get very confused when they see a typewritten "a" because it looks nothing like how we handwrite one.

Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ on a Ritz...WHO f***** CARES???

Seriously...this is utter b*******. IT'S JUST A GODDAMNED FONT!

There are far more serious issues in the world, besides bitching about a popular font, for God's sake!

However, if it bothers you that f***** much, you *really* shouldn't be out in public unsupervised.

Good God, what's next?

Comic Sans and Ariel are my favorite fonts. I can't stand Times Roman. If you are this upset over a font, you seriously need to get a life. Or professional help.

Some people have nothing better to do with their time than to bust other people's balls about what font they choose! HEY! GUESS WHAT? IF YOU DON"T LIKE THE FONT, DON'T FREAKING USE IT! No one told you that you had to use it! Sounds like some people have a touch of Hitler or Stallin running in their veins! Banning any written material is in keeping with Fascisim or Communisim! This font belongs to us ALL! I don't even use Comic Sans, but if I want to I WILL!Who died and made these a**holes "Big Brother"?

This is what america's been reduced to? We didn't run away from the british only to set the same stupid laws 200 years later... They're (we're?) essentially slowly stripping away our freedom. We've shoved our own policies so far up our ass that stupid things like this happen. Next, we're going ban public kissing, hand shakes, smiles, winks, hotdogs, gays, retards, stupid people, smart people, and eventually our own freedom. SOMEONE NEED TO KILL THE BASTARD THAT COMES UP WITH THIS STUFF.

I can't believe someone has the time to worry about something so silly. Who cares? Did someone really pay this person to write this article? Did someone really waste their time to try and get a petition and ban it? Really guys - get a real life!

Ten-to-One the eradication of this font will be done using our tax dollars, kinda like "bail-out the offensive". I agree, someone has WAY too much time on their hands! Personally, I like this font ... carefree and silly!

if you've studied typography at all, you would understand why Comic Sans (and a lot of of other fonts) are inappropriate for most contexts, just as certain clothing is appropriate for some contexts and not for others. I think Comic Sans is perfect when used as it was intended, when your audience is children.

As to whether it's worth even discussing, it certainly got a lot of you talking. If you don't think it's worthwhile, move onto the next story.

LMBO - I couldn't believe what I was reading...banning a font - sheesh, like so many others have posted, if you don't like it, don't use it.

My goodness these folks either need to grow up or get a life. Like another poster wrote here, with all the other issues facing the world today, and they are worried about a font that doesn't meet their level of standards. If the boss wants Comic Sans used, he is paying the pay check, best use it - or being willing to walk the unemployment line. Is it that big of a deal for these people?

And, for the record, I do not normally use the font - it is not my style, but I am not bothered if others do - free world, free choice. To those who are making it their life mission, all I can say is: "How petty an issue, get a life".

I have to say if other people love something and you don't for whatever reasons, you cannot have your ideals forced on others.

I love the type.

I guess because of all the unemployment these days people have nothing better to do than to try to ban a font. Sad.
