Stand strong swiss. Let no foriegn country tell you how to run your country. I do not want some other country telling the USA what to do.
We do not need to tell you how to run your bank.

Did you hear the one about the banker who shows up at the Pearly Gates and meets St Peter with a heavily loaded suitcase. Look he says I have brought just what Heaven needs and opened his suitcase to reveal gold bars. St. Peter had a puzzled look on his face and said, you brought street paving?

Taxes are the small issue. The sourse of the illgotten gain is the story. I just wonder if Judge Gold will apply the Golden Rule...or the same old "Rule of Gold" that says he with the gold rules.

It would appear it isn't just that there are unreported bank accounts at USB but rather there was an overt conspiracy on the part of USB to help US citizens illegally dodge taxes through the creation of such accounts. That would seem to go way beyond any legitimate privacy laws. If this is untrue and USB violated no US law then they should stand their ground and go to trial, let the chips fall where they may so to speak.

The U.S. and Swiss governments and banking giant UBS AG indicated Sunday they were seeking a settlement and asked a federal judge to delay high-stakes hearings on the Internal Revenue Service's effort to identify thousands of suspected American tax evaders.

The one-page motion, filed in Miami less than 24 hours before the hearings were to begin Monday, said postponement is needed "to allow the two governments to continue their discussions seeking a resolution of this matter."

Unless a deal is reached beforehand, the filing asks that the hearing be rescheduled for Aug. 3.

U.S. District Judge Alan S. Gold did not immediately rule on the request, but judges routinely allow parties in civil cases extra time to settle out of court.

They'll probably settle out of court.

This is the same bank that lobbied for no regulations thru Senator Phil Gramm and then gave him a VP slot when he retired, the same Phil Gramm, ex senator that was GWBush's main financial guy, the one who said that Americans were a bunch of whiners regarding banking and the financial institutions. I am sure he is set for life. Too bad so many others lost so much. But, hey, lets give the swiss banks everything, they deserve it, after all, they were neutral in WWII.

They'll no doubt settle out of court with the stipulation that the names be kept private. Jerks! This is how the wealthy get away with crap.

The Feds are going after 52,000 American people trying to hold on to their hard earned money, yet we allow 25 miilion illegals to stay in this country tax free!! I guess its ok since the Feds want to turn those 25 million illegals into 25 million legal voting Democrats.
