Amazing. Southwest had a nearly flawless record on maintenance and accidents -- until it 'outsourced' its fleet maintenance (at which time I stopped flying Southwest). Every time we pass work out of this country, we get just what we deserve.

I hope Auric Goldfinger went out that hole.
It would have served him right!

just another reason never to fly southwest.
"Last March, Southwest agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle charges that it operated planes that had missed required safety inspections for cracks in the fuselage. The airline had made nearly 60,000 flights without the required inspections."

"This is your pilot speaking, if you'll look out the right side of the aircraft you can see what's left of the fuselage plummeting to the ground......as always thanks for flying SWA."

I guess that pretty soon we'll be seeing Boeing 737's flying around wrapped in Duct Tape.

Southwest always has an issue of some sort. If they are not bumping you off a flight you paid for on one hand, on the other hand you're not able to depart for mechanical reasons/failure. And their ramp agents and customer service agents are something else. Don't you know that we pay your salaries?

Give me a break huh?

This is your first officer wright brother speaking, we have a little hole in the plane, let me know if someone would sucked out of that hole as we maneuvering emergency decent toward the air port..... SOS... SOS...SOS... This would be a scary situtation as hell. Not to mention, there was an incident in British plane the pilot sucked out of the window and he escaped.

I find this alarming, especially since I am scheduled to fly southwest this month and next month. There will be change of planes mid-destination...4 planes round-trip! Although, this has not been an airline that I frequently use, a relative provided me with the ticket!! Not looking forward to this trip on 4 differenty 737's. What does southwest have to say about this situation,,,,????

Try this for a selling point. Optional sun roofs on select planes. Brain buzz from oxygen depravation an added plus, due to lack of free drinks provided anymore. Keep looking on the sunny side as America collaspes into third world status.

Air Jamaica might always be late but at least we don't have holes or plane crashes. I think i'll wait until they make a bridge over the sea before i go anywhere again. Why are there so many plane incidents these days....it's like almost every week! This is becoming unnerving.....time to take a boat.

A few years ago the same thing happened to an Aloha Airlines 737 in Hawaii except the whole roof of the airplane ripped off, and a stewardess was sucked out to her death.

Holes cause S** to happen! SWA is no longer the airline it was. Most all upper management that knew how to do it have left the Company. The middle and lower management are pretty much incompetent (a vast majority of Customer Service Supervisors were promoted at 6 mos experienc because senior people have no incentive to apply), and unions protect incompetent lazy employees. Then they farm out heavy maintenance.

I'm still flying southwest. I like the cheap flights, getting there on time, and haven't had any bad turbulence or problems ever. You hardly ever hear of Southwest crashing. I am gladly going to get my half of a can of pop, in an ice filled cup with no more peanuts, (dang people with peanut allergies) and eat my tiny bag of one cookie.

WOW.....should they not be inspected all the time or do they have to wait for an incident to happen. Lets see.....I dont think they want to waste the money and when something bad happens.....oooops. To hell with these airlines.....they must change the federal laws regarding safer travel in the air.

Another US airline incident? They seem to be constant. No wonder I avoid them. I'm starting to think it wasn't terrorists who flew into the WTC, but a horrid accident.

The 300 series is an old plane. I hate getting on them as I fly all the time. A lot of times you can see the metal band aids on the fuselage.
