The economy is in the toilet. The stimulus isn't creating the jobs that it was supposed to. People and business are already taxed way too much. It's time to cut all the crap and cut taxes. And get out of the way to see if the economy can recover on it's own.

If Obama is to succeed with his domestic-policy agenda, he needs to convince people that action is necessary on these abstruse issues.
These aren't abstruse issues...These are an albatross around the neck of the Americans!

The problem Obama has, he is throwing money on top of the problem instead starting to fix from bottom up. If the end consumer doesn't have the money to spend all the money given to those companies won't do any good.

Example: If I don't have the money to buy a new car, therefore I won't, therefore the Banking Industry (Loan), Car Company and Insurance (full cover) will not benefit. Same goes with clothes - there are few times i do splurge not as many as 3 yrs ago. I just cut back.

As for smokes, alcohol and soda pops - all are luxury items. But you can get soda pops on welfare - cut it out and make them drink homemade kool aid and tea...............

And don't get me started on the biggest new tax in the history of this country -- cap and trade. And his plan to "reform" our health care by sucking another trillion dollars (likely much more) into the black hole of the federal government. And another "stimulus" when the first one didn't work.

Obama is a disaster. Because of his tax/spend policies, we're going to be stuck in a deep recession for many years to come.

It's about time something was "hard" for him. No scrimping and saving, there. His plan has jumped the tracks and derailed because his reform train was not built on solid tracks. He demanded (under threat of an impending catastrophic failure) that the stimulus bill be passed. Okay, it's done. 10% of the $787M has been spent. Why? Who did it benefit? Now, he says, Oops, I didn't really understand how bad the economy was! Yes, he did. Instead, he chose a socialist plan of attack, and put the money where it would NOT help Americans keep or find new jobs. (unless, maybe, if you are Union) Now he wants to rush through a cap and trade bill that will tax every one of us into dire straits. Funny comments about the South - here we go again - the Gulf of Mexico the only place in the US where oild drilling is allowed - in the South, the largest concentrations of wind energy, plenty of Nuclear plants, oil refineries, oil companies also for that matter, Agriculture production, lowest unemployment, car plants not on government life support. But do we want to succeed no to much paper work, but it would be nice if yankees who would be using wood for heat in the winter (if allowed under crap & tax ) would calm down.
What is going to happen is that Obama is trying to get all his programs done before the S**t starts hitting the fan because people are going to be taxed big time in the end & he will not get re-elected.

When Katrina hit New Orleans, many areas were erased, infrastructure devastated... well, you know the rest. The constituent tax base for the Crescent City was a mere percentage 3 months later, with only 20-25% of the population either having returned or indicating they would return. There were a few that did return immediately, setting about the business of recovery and getting on with their lives, and helping getting their beloved city back on her feet.

Nagin had skeletal services, skeletal overhead, but hated so much that demographics now favored a lighter shade of chocolate that he did the only thing he could think of... RAISE the TAXES on those who dared return home. This caused a good number of the remaining taxpayers to leave, and the race card trumped all in the end.

Obama is no better, and the results will be the same.
