Detroit isn't dead yet

Every Thanksgiving, I sit down to dinner with Everett Ketchum, a retired tool-and-die maker for General Motors. And every Thanksgiving, I tell him that he's the reason the auto industry is going broke.

The idea that the solution to an expensive problem is to create an even more expensive one is ludicrous. The government has no business in health care. The UAW is main reason the auto industry has failed and should be taken out of the auto industry. This is just one of the reasons the Japanese are beating us and now they are doing it by building here.

The government has as much business in healthcare as it has in police work,water, sewer systems, roads, bridges, etc. PBS presented a fine documentary re: public health systems in four rather different countries
