We will see if there is any real "Joe-mentum" for bipartisanship in congress. All the calls for compromise and bipartisanship have for a generation or more been to Repeblicans to be less strident and to acommosate Democrat ideas, Here we have a senior Democrat who in his heart of hearts felt that on the issue of national security, the other side was correct. For almost every other major issue J L is straight down the party line. He's as much a Democrat as McCain is a Republican. When thr party tried to dump him his state reelected Joe as an independent, which told the Democreatic leaders that they really need this guy, even though he is a "maverick."
