Proposition 8 made me quit the Mormon church

I have been a Mormon my whole life. But after the church's campaign of hatred to ban gay marriage, I finally renounced my membership. » Full Story on Salon.com

Author states she's been a Mormon her "whole life"; later says, "It seems like a life time ago, but I used to be Mormon". Confusing?

There are less active Mormons. Most do not know the doctrines well. e.g, the Church does not teach that 'righteousness' is determined by skin color. Mormons refer to the Latin people as Lamanites. We love these people & they know it. The Church grows rapidly in Latin countries because they know the Book of Mormon is true. Would these people join if they thought the doctrines were discriminatory?

The author seems 'troubled'- her difficulties go beyond the 'Church' from which she has alienated herself. Perhaps her 'lifestyle choices' are contributing to her currnet unhappiness. Her father said she needs to deal with her anger. I agree.
